Your New York City Apartment Can Be Used as a Vacation Rental

April 17, 2009 by

If you have an under-used New York City apartment you may want to consider using it as a New York City vacation rental. Did you know there are people looking for this kind of accommodation? These are people who would rather stay in an apartment than in a hotel room because they know it is much roomier, more comfortable, comes with all the amenities of a real home, and is usually located in a great spot in the city.

Typically these people are looking for a great place to stay for a fairly short period of time – anywhere from a few days to a period of 3 weeks or more. They may be families traveling to New York City for a short vacation. Or they may be business people coming to the city for any number of business reasons.

In the vast majority of cases people wanting to rent a New York city apartment are responsible adults who have experienced this kind of short term rental opportunity in the past and have found that they prefer it to virtually any other option.

However, trying to rent it yourself can be difficult. You have to advertise, correspond with prospective renters, take a security deposit and the rental fee, make sure your apartment is properly set up for renters, provide your renters with information about the city, and make their stay as comfortable as possible.

Then when the rental is finished you have to clean the apartment and provide fresh bedding and towels for the next renters. You also have to return the deposit fee in reasonable time.

The best alternative is to use a rental agency. An experienced rental agency will handle a number of apartments and have all the procedures carefully worked out so you really don’t have to worry about anything.

Your rental agency will look after advertising your apartment, dealing with renters, communicating with them both before and after the rental, handling the money, cleaning the apartment and making sure it is ready for the next rental.

As you will find out, renting your apartment will not make you rich. But it will go a long way towards offsetting some of the costs involved in running it. Plus you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that many other people have enjoyed their stay in New York and have put your apartment to good use rather than it just sitting there empty.

Have you tried to get on medicade? They can put you on a program where you will have medical coverage for the baby and check ups but you will have like a co-pay and may have to pay some bills but it will be a little cheaper for you. its something to look into, or at least as about.

The article says it is going to the only one in New York Diocese. There are several diocese in the archdiocese of New York. There are several archdiocese in the State of New York. The Diocese of Brooklyn is not part of the archdiocese of New York. There are several Basilicas in the State of New York. So, first read the article then know what you are talking about. As a New York Irish Catholic, I know what I am talking about.

Yes Yes Yes your thoughts on the idea are correct. The biggest problem for Volunteer Fire Departments are obtaining and retaining. most volunteer city departments will ask a minimum of 2-4 days a month on call duty, chances are you will not need to rent an apartment, im a volunteer firefighter at the certification level of state instructor (Virginia) at a town department within the county, we have our own vol firefighters go to the nearest big city (20 minutes away) and they volunteer with them. They live 20-25 minutes away but the thing with almost all fire departments is "Day Rooms" and YES Bunk Rooms. Meaning you simply hang out and sleep at the fire department on the days/nights you are available. You sound pretty dedicated to the cause of getting onto a department and that is a big plus. Taking the extra steps of getting your EMT is a wise decision if you would like to gurantee your chances at getting on as a volunteer and also greatly increases your chances at getting a paid position. being a firefighter and gaining the "EMT" is known in the service as JOB SECURITY combination Fire/Rescue Departments recieve far more EMS calls than Fire calls thus having the emt certification greatly desireable. It's also a respect thing, imagine having a fallen firefighter in front of you and having to stand back and watch the "Real Lifesavers" do their magic to save them… On another note all of your gear and training will be paid for by the city or state =) YOU VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND EFFORT NOT YOUR MONEY. Just remember be on call at the station and dont even think about payin rent for an apartment (waste of money) You'll gain friends at the station and enjoy hangin out waitin on calls. You will also be able to have "in house training" opportunities while you're at the station on call. Good Luck!
