Your best bet is adding Ultimate Finish to his ration. It is balanced and can do no harm. I use it in the 40 percent and the 100 percent products. It is highly digestable and good for all kinds of things. I have a clyde and this stuff grows amazing hair. It also grows hoof and puts on weight. It is a little on the pricey side but using it can allow you to cut back on your grain, so it kind of works out in the end.
I also add Horseshine to all of my horses' feed, twice a day and diatomicaceous earth, once a day.
But don't take my word for it. Get your vet involved. Horses are nothing to experiment with. To try to add a 'multi-vitamin' is not the way to go. Feed manufacturers take care of all that for you. Feed a balanced feed and then assess their condition month by month.
