How you can save money on your insurance

June 3, 2009 by · 7 Comments

Never, never just accept a renewal quote from your existing provider on your Home and Car Insurance policies. After mortgages, this is the most common area to limit your spending by finding other providers. According to the RAC, massive savings can be made the avergae shopper saving a whopping £214, while home insurance tumbles from £320 to£200. The internet makes it incredibly simple to find quotes, and if you don’t spend at least one lunch hour a year finding a better deal then you obviously have money to burn.

1. Investigate your PPI
Pricey and poorly sold, Payment Insurance is one of the most lucrative types of insurance created by the finance industry. It can add £3,000 to the cost of a £7,500 secured loans. But many people were sold it who can’t possibly make a claim against it these people are abel to demand their money back again.

Many companies are offering to calimthis moneyt back for you but they will take 25% of the refund. Instead, use the Fiancial Ombudsman Service which is free and they are helping 4 out of 5 people missold . Helpfully, it offers a factsheet on how to make a complaint about PPI which you can find at financialombudsman.org.uk

2. Cancel your mobile phone insurance
Many people are strongly pressured in phone shops into spending between £50 and £70 a year on this insurance. Most policies don’t cover you for the most dangerous type of risk airtime abuse (where the phone is stolen and used to make international calls), and if your phone is lost your home and contents should coiver it.

Mobile insurance is usually set up as a monthly direct debit, so it’s a very easy one to cancel.

3. Rethink your life insurance
Life insurance is not for life. Just because the life insurance cover was sold to you with your mortgage doesn’t mean you have to stick with that provider for the life of the home loan. You can cancel it at any time to get a cheaper deal. With the human lifetime improving (ie. fewer people dying), life insurance companies have been cutting rates for more than a decade.

If you are in a job at a big employer, it is likely to offer “death in service” benefit worth at least three times your yearly salary, and often much more. Do you really need all that life insurance cover on top as well?

4. Don’t pay for travel insurance you don’t need
Step 1 Obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from ehic.org.uk or at your local Post Office. This has replaced the old E111 forms and gives you reducedcost or free medical treatment in EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You may even obtain treatment faster, as you won’t have to rely on a hospital waiting to receive authorisation to treat you from an insurer.

Step 2 Check your home insurance policy. cover is often provided when outside your home.

Step 3 Check your health cover policy, if you have one. These usually pay treatment costs incurred abroad. For most holidaymakers, who travel to southern Europe once a year, the only real benefit that travel insurance brings is cover in the event of a cancellation. Ask yourself if that is really worth premiums that are often pounds 100 or more for a family.

You mustn’t travel outside the EU with out travel insurance cover If you go away more than once a year it is best to take a annual policy though again don’t pay for cover you don’t need. E.g., cover for winter sports.

There will always be someone you know who has a collection of coins, perfume, and lighters.

Collecting Americana like custom Zippo lighters does not require you to be a smoker. You can have hundreds of them and trace its history through the progression of designs and features starting from 1932.The first Zippo lighter was rectangular shaped with a hinged lid. This had a hood to protect the flame from the wind. Not much has changed since George Blaisdell designed the first Zippo lighter 75 years ago.

The saga of the Zippo lighter

The comical appearance of a well-dressed man struggling to light his cigarette with a bulky lighter gave Blaisdell an idea. A smoker himself, he needed something that would fit in the palm of his hand, not a contraption that required two hands to open and light a cigar.

Ever on the lookout for the opportunity to make money at the time of the Great epression, Blaisdell got the sole rights from the Austrian manufacturer of the brass lighters. Instead of making a pile, he lost his first round because there were many defects in the Austrian product. He hit on the idea of developing his own lighter. This was a smaller version that fit in the palm of the hand. He added a hinge to make it easier to open the lighter with just one hand. He designed the wind hood to encircle the wick, making the flame wind resistant; in spite of the new additions, his lighter still used the Austrian hood design.

The first redesigned Zippo came with a lifetime warranty. If you are collecting these, you have the lifetime guarantee for all items including custom Zippo lighters. The warranty
and novelty of the lighter catapulted Blaisdell to fame and riches. His business also thrived on the sales of spare parts and services after the expiration of the warranty.

The new breed of Zippos

The new Zippos have taken on added features like key holders, money clips, tape measures, ball pens, and unbelievably- knives. Custom Zippo lighters for different

Information About Photovoltaic Cells And It’s Numerous Uses For The Average Person

January 4, 2009 by · 12 Comments

Photovoltaic cells are increasing in efficiency, but decreasing in cost although they are still the same old black squares placed on solar panels in an array format, but now they are able to concentrate energy to a particular point in a much better manner. They are also becoming smaller in size and this is what’s making them cheaper to produce despite the fact that their efficiency is increasing. 4oo per watt per hour. We used to spend about to get this kind of efficiency 17 years ago.

You can search for different types of solar panels for your RV. There are a variety of rv solar panels available on today’s market. Swing on over to find out how solar panels can work for you.

There’s definite benefit in using electricity generated from the sun for the environment. Solar energy, an alternative source of energy, has no lethal emissions to pump into the environment and it uses one of the freest natural sources available for its production. Today, solar collection cells have become very popular additions to the rooftops of people’s houses. You can use them without much trouble in heating your home, heating water and in producing power for all your needs . There it gets heated and is then supplied inside the home through pipes.

Today, photovoltaic cells have become efficient enough to accumulate heat from the sun even when the weather is cloudy or stormy. This technology operates by making the cells to gather more of the suns rays on bright days which can be used in adverse conditions.A solar cell manufacturer known as Uni-Solar allows you to have solar energy even on overcast days.

The PV system is another system to produce solar power. A connection is made of the PV system to the nearest grid of electricity and when a particular home produces more energy using the solar cell, this excess energy is sent off to the grid so now the grid will use this energy for electricity production. Using PV systems makes solar energy production economical for you, and also mitigates the problem of environmental pollution and helps to free up the grid from excessive pressure. Town planning in some areas today includes setting up central solar accumulation arrays so that this energy could be available for the entire town.

The interest of several large corporations from across the world in setting up their own solar power plants has laid emphasis upon the point that this is being considered to be an extremely workable option for energy production. 6 megawatt system on the roof of its corporate headquarters and soon, Wal-Mart is going to add a 100 megawatt plant of its own.

By subsidizing and providing tax relief to people who install solar power systems for their electrical and heat requirements, nations such as America, Japan, Germany and Switzerland are furthering the popularity of these systems. Soon enough, several new private players are expected to join into the field of solar power generation because the rapidly increasing technology is making this field more profitable.
