How In the World Can You Tell If Your Child Has Colic

August 31, 2009 by · 4 Comments

So what exactly is baby colic? A baby that has colic or has colicky symptoms is sort of difficult to distinguish. What type of colic relief is the best for children? When a baby has colic, they usually will cry. This cry is a little different from a regular cry or even a hunger cry. The colic cry is very loud and very powerful. But do not worry, this sort of bay issue has nothing to do with what type of parent you are.

The true reason why some babies get colic and why some babies do not is still a bit of a mystery. This sort of disorder can probably be found in babies that are fed well with balanced diets and babies that are not fed so well. Even though it is so hard to diagnose colic and colic symptoms and differentiate them from things such as gas, some people have come up with their own metric to start to consider if the baby has colic. Your colic remedies can be different than mine. Some may call this the rule of three. If you baby is crying for three or more hours per day, for three days a week and this goes on for three weeks than you may have a colicky baby. Of course this is not an exact science but it can at least give you some what of a good association.

The time that babies usually start to show colic symptoms is around the three week mark. Once again, this is really hard to tell and not think that it may be something as simple as gas or being lactose intolerant. The time at which colic may become really severe is at about the six week mark. A child with colic may began to cry and clench his/her fist. A baby colic remedy will soothe the babies colic symptoms. They may also experience some areas of redness on their faces. Also, a child with colic is not easily soothed and the crying may last longer than the parents would like.

Figuring out if a child has colic can sometimes be difficult. One of the main symptoms is crying and pretty much all babies cry. Make sure that you pay close attention to the periods of the crying and if the babies show other symptoms that go along with the crying. It could be possible that you have a colicky child.
