The Success Of A Winner
January 10, 2010 by Tucker · 11 Comments
Exactly what is the secret formula to produce a winner? Some say that it is a cultural heritage people are brought up with. Others call it talent. Others call it pure instinct. At the end of the day it is that you can have all the secret ability, talent and pure intuition in the world and it won’t mount up to anything if you can’t inject the passion required to win every single day against your harshest and strongest opponent: You!.
Look at the legacy that was left behind from WW1. Most of us know the end of the war in 1918 as Armistice Day. The culture, memories and courage that has developed out of that single date has grown character into millions of souls.
Take any sport. It could be coaching a soccer team in Belgium, or you could be the owner of a future Melbourne Cup Winner. Whichever way you look at it, you need to have that killer instinct and take the neccessary steps to make the effort and sacrifice required to succeed. Success is is know to be the breakfast of champions and that is the first meal you should have every morning. Get out of bed, get into gear for action and get ready for success!
It doesn’t matter where you live. You may live in New York, Gotenburg, La Paz or Melbourne. No matter where you live, your fortunes or background, success begs for hard work and plenty of it. You will need passion to be a winner. That is what is required of Melbourne Cup Winners. Many ways are available for you to turn your passion into dollars and this can mostly be achieved with sheer hard work, but it also requires your total commitment towards a positive result. If you are not driven towards your targets, then those goals likely never to be part of your existence. To win that elusive trophy, you need to be that much better than the rest.
3 Easy Ways to Lookup Cell Phone Numbers
December 22, 2009 by Tucker · 9 Comments
It used to be easy to lookup where a phone call was coming from as long as you knew the telephone number. Area codes for land lines are keyed to geographical location, so if you had the area code of the telephone number, you could be pretty certain that they were calling from the geographical area to which the area code is assigned. In some states and cities, you could even pin it down further by the exchange – the three numbers that immediately follow the area code. Those three numbers pinpoint the region within the area code. Depending on the population density and the number of telephone numbers assigned within it, you may have been able to pinpoint the exact city, or even the neighborhood from which a caller was calling.
Cell phone number portability has changed all that. One of the attractive features of cell phones is that you can literally have a “number for life”. You can buy and activate your cell phone in Massachusetts, and keep your phone number if you move to New York for college, out to the West Coast to take a new job or down to Florida for vacation. Because cell phone technology is wireless, it doesn’t matter where the cell phone is located when a call comes in – the call will reach the handset.
Unfortunately for those who want to track location, that seriously complicates the ease of finding the location from which a telephone call originates. This can be a serious problem for emergency responders trying to find someone who placed a 911 call, though it is being addressed by enhanced 911 services. Law enforcement officials have access to cell phone tower triangulation technology when they need to track a location for a cell phone caller. But for the typical cell phone user, there’s really no easy way to find out where a cell phone call originates.
The North American Numbering Plan Administration, run by NeuStar Incorporated, is working on integrating cell phones into the numbering plans, but currently, there’s no easy way to find out where a cell phone call is being made, or even, for that matter, finding out who owns a particular cell phone number. Because most cell phone providers do not maintain a public directory of cell phone users, finding the owner of a cell phone number can be nearly impossible without using specialized search services and tools.
In the meantime, if you are looking for a cell phone number or trying to find out who owns a cell phone number, there are websites online that offer access to cell phone number directories for a price. Before you pay out to find the information you need, though, there are a few steps that you can take.
Search engines
The search engines can come up with surprising results. If you have a telephone number, type it into a standard search engine like Google or Yahoo. If that phone number has been put on a web page or web site, it may turn up in the search engine results. This is especially true for a number that has been used in scams or for pretexting.
Social networking sites
Social and business networking sites are good places to find people. There are literally millions of people who have entered their own personal information into websites like Facebook and Myspace. You can find someone by typing in their name at the social networking sites.
Check industry and business discussion forums and boards.
Like social networking sites, business networking sites are designed to make contact easy. If you know the business interests of the person you’re seeking, you can check for their information on a business networking site in their field.
If all else fails, you can turn to the pros. There are a number of online cell phone lookup services and cell phone directories that charge from $14.95 per number to help you find the people you’re trying to find.

Exercise Boot Camps: Just a Fad Or Here to Stay?
December 8, 2009 by Tucker · 13 Comments
It is interesting what type of American businesses arise during the times of war. One exercise phenomenon that had its birth in recent years is the fitness boot camp. Inspired by our soldiers preparation before going off to fight, boot camp exercise programs for civilians have shown up all over the country. Some of these boot camps are militaristic, lead by drill sergeants in fatigues shouting orders, while other camps are more friendly and motivating, lead by inspirational group exercise instructors. So what type of exercising is happening at these boot camps, and is this just a fad or are they here to stay?
Boot camp exercise classes vary in style, depending on the company and instructor. But typically a bootcamper will be given a physical test at the beginning of a camp, to assess fitness level. Then bootcampers will meet outside, usually in a park, beach, or river promenade, for an hour, usually 2-5 times per week for 3-4 weeks. The largest boot camp company in New York City, which holds several programs in Central Park, helps its bootcamp New York clients by offering classes which are 1.5 hours long, twice per week for two weeks. The companys CEO has tested longer and shorter time periods for classes and has discovered that bootcampers get much better results attending less times per week, but with a longer class each time they come out. During the boot camp, attendees can expect to do moving exercises for a stretch warm-up followed by interval training which switches back-and-forth between cardiovascular and strength training. Cardiovascular exercises are used to get the heart rate up and include movement exercises such as running, walking lunges, step-ups on benches, sit-ups, mountain climbers, etc. Strength training will include push-ups, triceps dips, holding core position, etc. At the end of the 3-4 weeks, the bootcamper is given another physical test to assess fitness progress.
Boot camps are providing participants with physical and mental challenge as well as camaraderie, which are all very appealing and cannot be found in the gym. Furthermore, smaller boot camp classes allow bootcampers to get the personal attention they need to exercise with correct form, not get injured, and achieve amazing fitness results. For now, it appears boot camp fitness in America, with or without war, is here to stay.
Halo Lighting in the Town of Intrigue
November 29, 2009 by Tucker · 6 Comments
There is a city just outside of Upton, New York where not many people have been and even fewer know of the secrets of this oddly yet familiar village. Once a safe place for the popular politicians of her genre, she had abundance a yarn for such a small and quaint little spot.
Full with picture book sites and a wealth of history, This would be an journey for any soul that risked to search her treasures. There was the lasting boat docks that had stories of fish caught. An outdated lumber mill, that long since transpired the subject of legends and long tales, as well as the forbidding playhouse of every childs desires. The kingdom of Gourdon to young Trent Sikes. A fortress of royal abode to the lovely young Lori Holsing.
Ah, and we cant forget the new and old light stores, full to the top with halo decorative lighting. This was a treasure for the old and the young alike. Dazzling shades of rainbow colors spinning through myriads of low dangling lighting. The halo track lighting supplied a unique quality to this indoor light show. I must say there had to be a foreknown design to this gorgeous wonder, there could be no other explanation to the man made awe that these halo lighting shows provided.
The town was no other than Moxie,New York a haven for the bothered Ted Kennedy, as well as the familiar local of every known mobster of the day. It was said, that unless you could ascertain your own way to Moxie and back, you couldn’t be trusted in the small circle of the days elite.

Your New York City Apartment Can Be Used as a Vacation Rental
April 17, 2009 by · 12 Comments
If you have an under-used New York City apartment you may want to consider using it as a New York City vacation rental. Did you know there are people looking for this kind of accommodation? These are people who would rather stay in an apartment than in a hotel room because they know it is much roomier, more comfortable, comes with all the amenities of a real home, and is usually located in a great spot in the city.
Typically these people are looking for a great place to stay for a fairly short period of time – anywhere from a few days to a period of 3 weeks or more. They may be families traveling to New York City for a short vacation. Or they may be business people coming to the city for any number of business reasons.
In the vast majority of cases people wanting to rent a New York city apartment are responsible adults who have experienced this kind of short term rental opportunity in the past and have found that they prefer it to virtually any other option.
However, trying to rent it yourself can be difficult. You have to advertise, correspond with prospective renters, take a security deposit and the rental fee, make sure your apartment is properly set up for renters, provide your renters with information about the city, and make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Then when the rental is finished you have to clean the apartment and provide fresh bedding and towels for the next renters. You also have to return the deposit fee in reasonable time.
The best alternative is to use a rental agency. An experienced rental agency will handle a number of apartments and have all the procedures carefully worked out so you really don’t have to worry about anything.
Your rental agency will look after advertising your apartment, dealing with renters, communicating with them both before and after the rental, handling the money, cleaning the apartment and making sure it is ready for the next rental.
As you will find out, renting your apartment will not make you rich. But it will go a long way towards offsetting some of the costs involved in running it. Plus you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that many other people have enjoyed their stay in New York and have put your apartment to good use rather than it just sitting there empty.

The great kayaking adventure
March 16, 2009 by · 11 Comments
As many of you know, I have been involved with the kayak renting Clear Lake group for many years. I absolutely love to kayak and have owned and personally built almost every type and size of kayak including sit-ins to sit-upons and both single person and two person models.
I have never been especially fond of ocean kayaking but prefer the tranquility and calm of floating down a quiet lagoon or exploring the hidden coves of a fresh water lake.
A few months ago, my best friend Tony and I decided to pack our favorite kayaks on top of my Hummer and travel around the country for a couple months exploring different places to splash our boats. The trip actually got extended to almost seven months but that one of the benefits of being semi-retired and not needing to go to a job. The trip also ended up taking us out of the country to Canada which hadn’t been in our original plan.
Needless to say, we had some unbelievable experiences! We kayaked mountain streams in Colorado, some beautiful lakes in Minnesota and many, many other truly fantastic spots.
One of the places we kayaked that was especially nice and rather surprising was in the Boston, MA area. We had heard that the back bays and estuaries around Boston were a particularly interesting area to kayak and we definitely found that to be true. It was amazing to find such primitive areas and wildlife within just a few miles of Harvard Square.
The only problem we had with Boston is that it is almost as expensive as New York and we had to do some serious hunting to find affordable inexpensive Boston hotels. We succeeded but the funny thing is that we then left the country to kayak the St. Clair lakes chain outside of Montreal, Canada and by that time we were ready to indulge ourselves and went shopping for the best hotels Montreal.
We finally made it back to Houston after almost seven months of traveling and kayaking with memories that I hope we will never forget.
The perfect time to ask for a break
February 27, 2009 by · 9 Comments
Everyone wants to save money while traveling, as well as save time. For most people, there has to be a trade-off of sorts, but now more than ever, you can find excellent savings on Miami, New York and chicago flights.
Ask Nicely
You would think the price of fuel going down would have a big impact on prices, but it is actually a decrease in the number of passengers offering travelers the best prices. Not only can you get great savings right now, you can also get bonus frequent flier miles and other amenities thrown in for no extra charge.
Now is the perfect time to ask for a break. Upgrade and switch those coach seats for business class, or check out non-stop flights to chicago instead of the red-eye with that lengthy layover. Be polite, and your customer service rep may be able to work some real magic.
Go the Extra Mile
Big airports offer some of the best deals in the world, but do not be afraid to look at alternatives. You can save hundreds of dollars flying to Tampa instead of Miami, for instance, and renting a car for the drive down.
Don’t have time to rent a car? No problem. O’Hare may be the busiest airport around the globe, but you can still save money on Chicago flights Midway International. Smaller airports in big cities often cater to budget carriers, like AirTran or Sun.
Traveling cheap and traveling fast do not have to be mutually exclusive. You can have both if you hunt around, and there has never been a better time for airline deals than right now. Check out costlessflights for more on flight deals.
