Computer For The Holidays?

January 19, 2010 by · 11 Comments

This year a computer may be on your child’s most wanted gift list. Consider this a good investment if your school-aged child does not already have a computer; it has become essential for survival in school. Having a home computer changes everything. Reports can be typed and saved, research can be conducted at any time and children can communicate with others easily.

With all of that said, a computer can be a nightmare for parents who must monitor the Internet, control the instant messenger messages and allocate time slots for each sibling to have a turn. The computer has become what the TV once was: the most popular family possession that everyone needs, and no one is willing to compromise. This is causing great angst across the nation, as parents turn to the tech industry to solve the problem that the personal computer has created.

How do we censor content and allow the good information to come through?

The internet is a lot like New York City. There are very good places and very bad places. You wouldn’t let your child just roam the city freely. To varying degrees, almost all parents evaluate and monitor their children’s TV and movie choices. What about the computer? Part of the problem is that it is impossible for parents to monitor a child on the computer 24-7, yet some type of safeguards must be in place for computer use. What to do? There are three areas that parents need to make some wise choices, location of the computer, time for access and filtering devices.

Computers that are placed in the child’s bedroom are difficult to monitor. Children can access all kinds of unsavory websites and quickly click them away if a parent knocks on the door.

Also, the allure of the computer can displace sleep as the major event of the evening. Late at night, will you know if your child is logged on? Locate the computer in an area that everyone has easy access to and that you can watch.

Computers have an off switch. Children need to have limits placed on the access so that essential tasks like bathing and homework get done. The computer is enormously entertaining. Surfing the Web should not replace riding a bike or playing tag. Children need a balance – so do adults – to learn to survive and stay healthy.

Save Money, Have Fun, Make your Truck Unique!

December 9, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Customizing a car, is something that women find rewarding and fun to do. They will take a SUV, that is considered plain, then add and subtract a variety of things to make the truck, unique to their individual tastes.

One of the nicest things about customizing a car, is that it allows your car, truck, or SUV to stand out from other car, trucks, or SUVs that have the same body style and color.

Another great thing about womens desire to customize their vehicles is that while it can get expensive, if they know what they are doing they can do a lot of the work themselves. By having the knowledge all that you need to do is to buy the customized parts and follow the directions to install them on your vehicle.

The more knowledge that you have about customizing vehicles the better your customization job will be, and your customization job will be less expensive. The best way to get cheap rates on quality customization items is to know what you are looking for, plus knowing where to look.

One thing that you can do to make your vehicle stand out is to add fog lights, whether they are LED fog lights or projector fog lights. Fog lights can be added to cars, but they usually look better on trucks or SUV’s because they bring a certain look to the vehicle that just states this is a unique truck.

An added benefit of installing fog lights is that they can help you see better in foggy driving conditions, but they can really make your car stand out if you choose the right shape and style for your vehicle. Look for more information on adding unique items to your vehicle at ProjectorFogLights.com

Symptoms of Dyslexia

October 27, 2009 by · 13 Comments

Most of the history of dyslexia has been written during the last 25 years. Before that the condition was practically unknown.

Dyslexics see things differently. Their eyes are the same as those of non-dyslexics, but their brains interpret the signals differently. Because of this they learn differently and need to be taught in the way they learn, not in the traditional mold.

The whole point of testing for dyslexia is to identify dyslexics so they can be helped. Dyslexia cannot be “cured”. Dyslexia treatment consists of teaching dyslexics how to learn in the ways that work for them. When they are taught how to do this they can overcome dyslexia and move on to enjoy its benefits.

Those who went through grade school more than 15 years ago almost all bear the scars of being hammered into molds that did not fit. They were ridiculed for their differences, looked at as retarded (which most are definitely not!), slow learners, etc. They were embarrassed and learn to hide their differences.

Today there are millions of dyslexic adults still struggling to deal with the world through a dyslexic lens, not realizing that dyslexia is their problem and a simple dyslexia test could set them on the road to life-changing improvements.

There are a large number of different types of dyslexia to deal with. There is no standard definition, no real, workable way to sort them out into types and put them into nice, neat categories. Each one is different and needs to be evaluated and taught accordingly.

For adult dyslexics (part of the 2+ million) out there a dyslexic test could open up a whole new world of how to easily do things they had never been able to do before. Many adult dyslexics are identified when one of their children tests positive for dyslexia in school. Since dyslexia runs in families, parents of newly-identified dyslexics are often encouraged to be tested. Doing so has opened up new possibilities, new abilities, new careers for many.

There is more information on the subject of dyslexia you can see by clicking on any of the links in this blog posting.

October 3, 2009 by · 5 Comments

When planning a trip, most vacationers want to find the perfect balance between quality and value. Often, the perfect way to find both is to investigate a Hawaii vacation rental near the attractions you wish to experience. These rentals are often cheaper than hotels but provide a more authentic local experience at the Hawaiian Islands.

There are a few different way to find rental accommodations in Hawaii. A reliable travel agent can do the searching for you, or you may choose to do your own research on the internet or by perusing the local classified ads.

However you end up locating a place to stay in Hawaii, remember there are other things you need to investigate. Send mail or speak with the person who manages the house and get any issues you may have down in writing. You need to make clear what your responsibilities are, what needs to be done while you are leasing, and make a checklist of things necessary before you leave the island.

If you are looking at Maui rentals, there are several important questions to ask. For instance, you should know how close the airport is or whether or not the drive to the rental unit is accessible by two wheel drive.

When choosing a Maui rental, consider asking the owner whether picking fruit or flowers from the yard is acceptable and how much rain might be expected on that part of the island during your stay. Also request any information the owner might be able to provide regarding the neighbors, tourist spots, and amenities.

Check Your Credit Report And Credit Score Regularly To Ensure You’re Getting The Best Interest Rates

September 29, 2009 by · 8 Comments

You may have seen a commercial or two lately offering you a free credit report and free credit score. What is the big fuss about? Why the sudden interest in credit reports and credit scores?

To understand the importance, you need to get copies of your credit report and credit scores. Let’s begin by obtaining a copy of your credit report. You can get your yearly credit report from the government. You can get all three credit reports each year due to the government’s new law.

This only gives you half the picture of your credit profile. Now that you have your credit report you need your credit score. The government does not have a program that allows you to get an free credit score. The easiest way I know to accomplish this is to sign up for a free credit monitoring trial service.

With your credit score in front of you you can now understand what are good credit scores. Your FICO credit score has a range of 300 to 850. And of course the higher the number you have the better. 750 to 850 are considered the best credit scores and will give you the best interest rates on your loans and insurance rates.

The benefits of having a credit score are huge – you will get the lowest interest rates when you borrow money and you could also qualify for a better job. This is why your credit scores are important.

Your score comes from the information contained in your credit report. This is why it is to your benefit to maintain accurate information in your credit report. Some good advice with your credit reports is to request them every four months. Now you can save thousands of dollars in interest on your credit cards and loans and hundreds of dollars on your auto and Home Insurance.

An Inherited IRA Minimum Distribution Should Benefit You, Not the IRS

May 31, 2009 by · 2 Comments

In general, obtaining an inheritance is a good thing for most people. Even when it is a retirement account, the benefits can be a rewarding windfall. You have a unique opportunity to maintain a tax deferred investment for your own retirement fund. Alongside this strategy, the value of the inheritance will be able to increase over time. This is most surely good news when most people are concerned about having enough money to be able to live on when they choose to retire. Nonetheless, if you are not aware of the IRS regulations, you might have to pay a considerable amount of the inherited IRA minimum distribution in penalties and taxes.

The major problem with understanding the inherited IRA minimum distribution policies is that for the average person, the explanations are not always easy to understand. You would have more luck finding a needle in the Black Forest. Additionally, the tax ramifications of inherited IRAs are new because traditional IRAs are also fairly young and people have only begun receiving these funds as an inheritance in the past few years. The tax laws need to modernize with the traditional IRAs as well as the Roth IRAs that you can possibly inherit.

There are two basic varieties of inherited IRA minimum distribution scenarios: spousal inheritances and non-spousal inheritances.

With a spousal inheritance, the rules are more simple because of the special privileges which are available when you are married. There are several options which can be applied to avoiding any penalties and taxes. You can roll over the money into your existing IRA account, or even choose to open a new one. If you are younger than 59 and a half years old, you can remain a beneficiary on the account. Your deceased spouse’s name will also remain on the account. This will allow you to access some of the funds and prevent the 10 percent early withdrawal penalty.

An inherited IRA minimum distribution is handled completely differently when you receive the account from someone other than your spouse. In the first case, make sure that you are identified as a designated beneficiary by your loved one, rather than by simply applying the label of my estate or my living trust. Another mistake is assuming that leaving the IRA beneficiary space blank will automatically distribute the funds as part of the will. When an IRA is transferred to a trust or estate, that taxes must be paid within five years. Being a designated beneficiary affords you you more options for how withdrawals are handled, and will minimize your tax burden to the IRS.

Basically, you want to handle an inherited IRA wisely. You are not trying to avoid paying taxes; as you simply do not want to pay more than you have to because of faulty information. Talk to a financial planning and tax advisors in order to obtain the proper information.

Skinny Jeans Does NOT Mean you are beautiful!

January 6, 2009 by · 6 Comments

Many people get caught up in material things, and feel that material items creates true beauty. They forget to look past the items and see the person looking back at us. Instead we often torment over the person we see in the glass. All you can see is someone staring back at you who you don’t think is handsome, because we have not met “normal” society standards.

The truth is, beauty isn’t some casual hunt, and it’s not an indiscriminate act that you can acknowledge. We might even be very disgusted with our features The beauty that we poses today might not even make us want to jump up and down to thank our ancestors for giving us life!

Beauty does, in fact follow scientific standards. Beauty has a purpose, because historically, it is how people have expressed who we are, also it has been a communication tool to attract the opposite sex. In fact, is really about your health and happiness regarding you beauty. Which leads us to the review of this book: YOU Being Beautiful The Owners Manual to Inner and Outer Beauty

Here are some reviews by our readers: “This has been absolutely amazing!!! 5 stars all the way!” Good Work! Great job! Keep it up! This publication changed my very being. Within a week, I saw how my skin improved after implementing advice I had received. When I realized that I was getting attention from men, I was no longer worring about my pores.

What an amazing feeling ! Look 20 years younger, 20 pounds lighter and 200% prettier in only 20 days both books are a must read : Another book Istrongly recommend because I’ve enjoyed it immensely is stop the Age Clock!

You: Being Beautiful could as easily have been called YOU: Being Healthy …4 Stars! Optimize Health and Optimize Beauty. According to Roizen and Oz, we all would like to look, feel and really be beautiful. Now I don’t think many men would admit to this, but if you replace “feel my best” and “healthy” for “beautiful,” then you’ve accurately described the book. This book pertains to men as well as women.

Dr. Oz tends to present practical information that you can actually use. I’ll go through the remaining books he has published.
