SEO and Niche Keywords

November 25, 2009 by · 8 Comments

SEO… this is what everyone wants to know how to do Good search results are essential to your site. Many people do not go beyond the first page of the results pages so you need to ensure that your site is search engine optimized or you wont get any traffic never mind the right sort of traffic traffic that brings you business that is.

So what are the things you need to do to have a chance to rank well? As every search engine has a different algorithm (which just means a mathematical rule or procedure for solving a problem) and each algorithm has literally hundreds of inputs this may seem like an impossible question to answer. And to answer it with 100% accuracy is impossible but there are certain things that have a impact that you must do just to stand a chance.

1. Make sure that your site is technically sound and well built with plain English page titles rather than: sessionid=4D6BE5993FFF956660C27184A2F39E81.TC30a?__frame=_top and with all non HTML code (HTML Hypertext Markup Language and is the basic language used to write web pages) called in from separate directories.

2. Choose keywords and phrases very carefully. Keywords should be the words that customers actually use to find your site when using a search engine. Amazingly most people just ignore this basic fact and never get any research done on the subject!!! That’s like turning up to the airport with no money, no ticket and no passport and expecting to get on a plane in other words: nuts! Its easy to find the keywords if you are using a Niche Keyword Software to help in your research of niches. We have used several keyword research softwares, but the one that has truly help me the most is Keyword Country.I have a full review of This amazing Niche Keyword research software

3. Once you know what keywords to use write a page with a relevant page title for each keyword or phrase using simple language with variations of the keyword or phrase to reach a keyword density of about 5 to 8% and apx 200-500 words per page minimum with paragraphs that use tags in their sub headings. Make sure that your keyword(s) or phrase(s) appear in each of your pages meta tags. Make sure that ll you photos have descriptions.

4. Find a way to build up inbound links to your site from other sites. Search engines view inbound links as a vote for your site. Therefore, in general, the more incoming links to relevant parts of your site from relevant anchor text (the visible text in a hyperlink you click to go to another page or website) on other sites the higher your page will rank, but the linking sites must be relevant and links from disreputable sites can harm your ranking.

5. Continually add new content. Sites that continually add new content and new pages get better rankings because search engines like new relevant content. Search engines spiders or web crawlers are a program that browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner. Web crawlers create a copy of all the visited pages for later processing by a search engine that then indexes those pages to provide fast searches. Spiders are always on the lookout for fresh content.

6.Add a sitemap to your site which shows every page on the site and has a link to it. This will help the search engine robots find every page. If you are updating regularly then an XML site map for Google that pings Google about every update should be added too.

7. Make sure you have basic management information about the site how many visitors, where they go, where they leave etc. Arguably this is just as important as the site itself as it allows you to improve it based on actual results.

8. Finally build a site for people that is interesting to people. No point in being at the top of the search engines if people just refuse to stay or buy!!! People generally stay on sites that are relevant to what they are looking for at the time, are easy to navigate, easy to read and easy to buy from. Whilst they like prettily designed sites form tend to be less important than relevance and ease of use. They also like interacting via chat rooms or watching relevant movies.

In 2002 blogs took the world by storm, changing the way we did business online for good. While most people at that time started with various blog platforms, eventually most of them shifted to WordPress. A powerful website CMS that emerged from the need for a better blogging systems, WordPress has since become so much more.

If you read any blogging tips and tricks, WordPress is often positioned as a tool that well, creates a blog. But more and more marketers are finding that you can also use it as the |main|most important|fundamental} tool to upon which you can build a complete business empire.

The most powerful function of WordPress itself lies in its ability to manage large amounts of text, audio and video content. But perhaps the most interesting thing about WordPress is its flexibility. You can easily switch between various WordPress themes, and improve its functionality using plugins and even some custom programming. Did I not also say that it’s free?

So if you’re not already using WordPress, you should. The learning curve has reduced substantially in the past 3 years. Right now, even a 6 year old kid can understand how to set it up and use it. So go ahead, use WordPress to power your online business!

Getting more traffic deploying Twitter For Business

September 11, 2009 by · 11 Comments

Web 2.0 property Twitter has created a media storm in the last few months with a frenzy of authority figures mentioning Twitter on their video casts , and business strategists saying that we can leverage Twitter to build thousands of followers , the interest in Twitter is at a record peak . You almost certainly know people on Twitter and your major suppliers have probably asked you to be their Twitter fan . And that is what I want to discuss with you today . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?

I don’t think many people understand the Twitter phenomena. And that’s probably because it can mean different things to different people.

But however you approach your Twitter strategy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. The least you’re likely to achieve is a handful of great relationships , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. I mean a few people are just going to wonder if your business (or you) are on Twitter and type in twitter dot com slash acme widgets. Now it will be embarrassing is a cyber squatter is sitting on your own name, so another good reason to make sure you secure your place in the Twit’o'sphere. (By the way things can be done about cyber squatters, just ask me.)

In other articles we talk about how to get noticed for your keyword and how to manage your account for targeted conversion (also covered well in that free video I mentioned earlier) but let’s do something we can do right now.

A lot of people limit themselves to thinking Twitter traffic as stemming from Twitter internally . A concept most Twitter directories promote . But , the advantages of having your existing customers join you on Twitter are huge . So beneficial that we need to take action today .

A very quick solution is to add a Twitter “badge” to your existing web entities . It’s simply a graphic saying who you are on Twitter with a link direct to your Twitter identity. In the videos I mentioned , you’ll discover a lot more , but let’s stick to a simple badge for now .

WHERE CAN I CREATE MY BADGE ?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge at no cost from this website ;
http://wwwTwitterHug.com/twitter/category/badge/ – Custom Twitter Badge for free .

You simply paste the HTML code it provides in to your website, store, or blog and your customised graphic with active link, will magically appear .

It also works on WordPress blogs. I’ve placed them on all of my own blogs.

It is sealed in its own HTML DIV so should integrate easily almost anywhere.

If you create a table or div tag to position it in , then you can just paste the code in verbatim . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.

Once you’ve placed your badge, you can smile in the knowledge you have taken the right action, and before most of your competitors

Top 10 Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Tips

August 22, 2009 by · 7 Comments

Using Search Engine Optimisation to get good results from the likes of Google is a must for any webmaster. Whether you’re using SEO to receive organic website traffic from the big search engines or you’re using SEO to improve your ranking in Google, these top 10 basic SEO tips will help get you started.

1. The title of your webpage is key
Search engine spiders will crawl through your site pages to gather information about your website which will be used in the search engines results. Having a good well informed title is one of the most important SEO methods and the webmaster should use keywords related to their website content.

2. A sitemap is very useful
Having a Sitemap page on your site is very useful and almost all search engine crawlers will know where they’re heading on your website and if your pages are well linked together it makes it much easier for the crawler to gain information and place it on their search results.

3. Back links
One of the better ways to gain a higher ranking in search engines is to have thousands of back links linked to your website from other sites. One of the best ways to achieve this is to either pay for permanent links to your site or submit your website’s content to directories and article directories if you have articles to submit.

4. Anchor text & links
It is important to use relevant anchor text when linking back to your website. An example of anchor text for a website design company and search marketing company could be “website design” or “search engine optimisation”.

This helps the crawler know exactly what your website is about and what keywords you’re targetting, so when “website design” is typed in a search engine then you will stand a better chance of showing on the first few pages.

5. Vary your title information
Having the same title on every page of your website isn’t the best way to go about things and if you have thousands of pages search engines will probably think you’re “keyword stuffing” and your website will probably be sandboxed.

Make sure you change the title of all your pages so you’ll most likely get searched by other keyword variations.

6. Using black hat methods will get you sandboxed
One of the black hat methods we discussed earlier was “Keyword Stuffing” & another is linking to and from link farms. Link farms are websites that displays thousands of links to other websites and usually regarded as spam by the top search engines.

7. Use images wisely
Images have a simple method of being SEO’d as well so if you have a gallery of pictures and want pictures displayed in the “images” part of Google then this method is perfect if used correctly. You should vary your alt tag so you’ll not be sandboxed for keyword stuffing.

8. Take advantage of the common HTML tags
If you want to target a specific keyword then sometimes wrapping the b or ul tags can work wonders. While this isn’t always recommended to do around all of the keywords you’re targetting a couple of times is always sufficient.

9. Take advantage of your back links
When other websites link back to your website they only usually link back to your main page, while this is still good you can still take advantage of it. Get linked to different pages of your website as well so search engines see that you have lots of useful content throughout your website.

10. Get a steady flow of visitors
Produce relevant content and visitors will just keep coming back and back. Another good way to keep your visitors informed of website updates and new content is to get them to either add your rss feed or register to a weekly newsletter that keeps them informed of all the goings on.

Using CSS Instead of HTML Tables

August 11, 2009 by · 8 Comments

Times have changed on the internet and back when you thought coding couldn’t be made any easier for you to style your websites you were wrong. CSS has taken the basic HTML coding to the next level and again when you thought your coding couldn’t look any neater, you were wrong. CSS doesn’t need the likes of HTML tables and what a superb advantage CSS is and I’ll explain why.

In the old days of HTML coding, website designers would have to use the HTML tables tags which made the coding looking messy. Not only that, without the use of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) coders would be coding for a lot longer which resulted in a lot of time was wasted. This all changed when CSS was introduced and don’t get me wrong, a lot of cross browser problems still occur but it’s such a good transformation to the web design industry all this is worth it.

Cross browser problems do occur a lot more often with the use of CSS because some browsers render the CSS functions differently and cause the website to be displayed differently between most common browsers such as IE7 and FF. There are many myths and different information on the internet which discusses cross browser compatibility and how coders should only code for the latest browers which are the likes of IE8, FF, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari etc. None of this information is true and if you do only code for the latest browsers, a huge percentage of internet viewers still use Internet Explorer 6 so you’re not catering for a huge amount of internet users who can’t view the sites you code properly.

There are many hacks and different CSS functions you can use to cater for the whole internet browsing industry and all you need to do is learn to code for one browser such as FF (as recommended by professionals, given that IE7 doesn’t compile the codes correctly) then once you’ve mastered to code for one browser you can make the specific changes so your site is viewable in all browsers and on all systems.

Tips on how to UseWeb Design

February 26, 2009 by · 7 Comments

Web design is an great visual aspect of this, but what good is a flashing logo if no one can find the information or product they are looking for? Web design is not book design, it is not poster design, it is not illustration, and the highest achievements of those disciplines are not what web design shoots for. Although websites can be delivery systems for games and videos, and although those delivery systems can be great to look at, such sites are exemplars of game design and video storytelling, not of html web design. Web Design Schools Guide is your home for finding the best web design schools and web design program for your needs. We maintain one of the most extensive sets of reviews of web design degree programs and online web design schools as well as a regularly updated web design school ranking.

Web design is usually the first stage of a project. At this point, the project is not a web site at all, but layers of pixels within a graphics package. Web designers CT for real estate advertising online dental practice sites re-designs. Web design companies will be able to handle images, their size and placement.

Flash should not be used to jazz up a page. If your content is boring, rewrite text to make it more compelling and hire a professional photographer to shoot better pictures. Flash is not a standard produced by a vendor-neutral standards organization like most of the core protocols and formats on the Internet. Flash is much more self-contained than the open HTML format as it does not integrate with web browser UI features.

Search engines cannot read flash. They cannot read javascript, or images. Search Engines use extremely complicated algorithms to calculate their interpretation of the suitability of web pages to display when a search is requested. These algorithms are not known to anyone outside of the Search Engine’s highest echelons and cannot accurately be predicted or foreseen, as they are also regularly changed or adjusted.

HTML web design needs to factor both different resolution sizes and browser types, as different web browsers interpret HTML and CSS differently. For example, Firefox and Internet Explorer do not agree on the size of a pixel. HTML web design templates’ sole drawback is their modification can be rather complicated for normal users. A great site can be accomplished using web templates, and free downloads are available on the web.
