Welcome to the Nightmare

The 5th October started early as Muddy woke me for walkies in our Travelodge room says Steve at Leeds Locksmith Co. I had travelled down the day before hot foot from an MLA course and overnighted near Winchester. Norman (LASM Publisher) and I were to meet Matt Dumsday – MD of Citysafe Wholesale to see over their new premises.
Citysafe started life as an extension to a locksmiths main business, easier to buy 20 and on 15 and make a quid in the process!
However, Citysafe quickly became a big company needing specialist staff and premises larger than those from where they have traded for the past 26 years. You will remember a couple of years ago the Nauta Group bought Citysafe lock stock and safes, staff, premises and several skips worth of redundant stock. You will also remember, I hope, that Nauta Group is Dutch, although they also have manufacturing in Germany.
Matt at Leeds Locksmith Co said the old premises were not cost effective. The time take to go and find stock, return to pack it and to do this in all weathers was getting too much. So the parent company approved a move to new premises.
Following a long search a new warehouse was found on a small industrial estate near the ring road and plans were made for the move.
Now for those that have never rented a huge warehouse, it comes with a lot of great features; floor, walls, roof and some windows. That’s it. So the inside had to be built from scratch – toilets, kitchen, showroom, boardroom, sales office and canteen all had to be constructed and I nearly forgot a new workshop for Steve the resident Leeds Locksmith.

Insurance firms vending Ruerup-Pension claims to prospective retired persons
February 16, 2010 by Tucker · 8 Comments
Many insurance providers offer so called Ruerup-Pension policies on the German marketplace. Usually it is quite hard for the individual client to find a trustworthy assurance vendor that fits best with the own requirements. How can readers find the fitting insurance for Ruerup-Assurance policies covering their needs at a good rate? On specialized Internet sites customers can retrieve their appropriate Ruerup-Pension quote out of the multitude of insurance vendors.
For whom is a Ruerup-Insurance contract recommended? For business owners and for well-paid employees the Ruerup-Pension agreement is a good chance to provide retirement pay and to save taxes at the same time. If you are looking for a Ruerup-Pension assurance offerer in Germany, you should take into consideration some important points:
As from 2005 contributions to newly concluded traditional private pension insurances and life insurances are no more tax deductible in Germany, the Ruerup-Assurance contract is a suitable alternative. Entrepreneurs do not have the possibility to provide retirement pension by the so called Riester -Assurance. So they could not benefit from public allowance. For this group of people there is now the possibility of taking tax benefits by concluding a Ruerup-Assurance contract. Before choosing their German Ruerup-Pension insurance provider, readers should always get several offers. The following website offers a gratis Ruerup-Insurance quotation: http://www.ruerup-sieger.de/Preiswerte_Ruerup_Rente.html.
The state-sponsored Ruerup-Pension is for self-employed persons as interesting as for well-paid employees. For those groups of people it is the only possibility to get special tax deductions in old-age provisions since the possibility of special deductions for other private pension and life insurance contracts has been deleted by the legislature. In the phase of paying contributions to the contract the paid-up capital is protected against distress. This means creditors of the insured individual cannot impound the Ruerup-Pension contract. The accumulated money must remain for the insured individual and the insurance must not be resolved before retirement.
The capital that is accumulated by a Ruerup-Pension agreement is not affected by unemployment in the context of social welfare. This money does not need to be consumed before getting social welfare. Since 2005 there is the possibility to complete the own retirement pay by the conclusion of a Ruerup-Assurance contract. Such a Ruerup-Assurance plan is particularly interesting for those people who cannot conclude a so-called Riester -Assurance policy for employees. With the Ruerup-Pension, the legislature gave business owners the possibility to benefit from public sponsorship under their own private pension.

The History of Goebel Figurines
December 21, 2009 by Tucker · 8 Comments
Like so many innovative and lucrative ideas the M. I. Hummel line of Goebel figurines started off simply with one person’s passion. Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, a Franciscan Sister, was also a gifted artist. She loved making drawings of country children. She eventually had the drawings printed as art cards. Goebel, a porcelain manufacturer in Germany took note of the art cards in the 1930s. The world was in political turmoil and Franz Goebel felt lovers of porcelain works would respond to Sister Hummel’s innocent theme. Sister Hummel worked hand in hand with Goeble overseeing her artwork as each artistic endeavor was turned into beautiful porcelain figurines. She would personally approve each and every porcelain piece. The Hummel line of Goebel figurines were an immediate success in Europe. It didn’t take long for these pieces to attract the attention of American soldiers stationed in Germany.
First established in 1871, Goebel started out by making children’s marbles and slate pencils. Even though the owners’ vision always included porcelain figurines, they lacked the money to produce them. Eight years later, the owners fired up their first kilns and produced dinnerware and Goebel figurines. But it was the Hummel figurines that changed Goebel history and helped make them the huge company they became.
Unfortunately Sister Hummel met an early death due to tuberculosis in 1937 at the age of 46. She was a prolific artist and had created art cards that Goebel continued to use. The company worked with an Artistic Board at the convent where Sister Hummel lived to ensure that her vision continued to flourish through their Hummel line of Goebel figurines.
If you’re lucky you can still find some of these amazing Goebel figurines at auctions and yard sales. Check the bottom as there are definitive identification marks. Most figurines will include Sister Hummel’s signature and a Goebel trademark. Some also include a mold number.

Below is a classic story of a wasted chance: Peter from Somerset selected to travel to Germany to snap up a bit of mountain oxygen for a couple of days. He wanted a bit of cash but not massive amounts: he did not plan to go making purchases during his break. He purchased his flight tickets and accommodation, then went to the airport and purchased some euros at the bureau de change. He looked down at the number of euros he’d been given for his sterling and was a little saddened. What he hadn’t noticed was that the best euro exchange rates are actually available on the web! If he had gone with one of the top foreign currency merchants online, he would have noticed a lot more euros in his hand!
If you still have lots of shopping to do this season and are worried about where to get the funds, why not get a credit cards for bad credit? If you are unsure where to make extra money, you could exchange your old gold using a money for gold broker. Presently, the value of gold is really lucrative so it is a ideal opportunity to barter your old gold with a specialist. They price your things and offer you a price for them. If you are pleased with their price then you may take their cash. If you are unsatisfied then they most often send back your items. Personal compensation insurances are provided by a lot of different providers in Germany. When looking for ways to protect yourself against the financial risk, it is not easy to find the right insurance supplier and contract for your specific requirements. They offer a free comparison of German compensation insurance companies: Billige Unfallversicherung abschliessen. There you can retrieve your personal accident insurance comparison online. You will get the right casualty insurance quote from a great number of insurance providers.
Why is it useful to effect personal compensation insurance? This special insurance is interesting for everybody who wants to optimize their personal risk management. Here are some important aspects which should be considered when looking for the right German casualty insurance provider on the Internet:
Accident risks are present in everyday life when staying at home, doing exercises, going for a vacation trip or spending some other recreational time. Especially leisure-time risks are not covered by the governmental accident insurance in Germany. So it is very useful to have an additional private protection. Entrepreneurs can negotiate a daily benefit so that the loss of income is coverered during the time of convalescence. The casualty insurance providers normally pay in case of permanent disability. But it is also possible to include costs of convalescence and hospital daily benefits in the contract. It is not necessary to visit all the German personal compensation insurance providers personally when looking for a good solution. You can obtain an online comparison and even effect your personal accident insurance here: Unfallversicherung fuer Familien. Entrepreneurs are usually not protected by the German statutory compensation insurance. Voluntary membership is possible, but not mandatory.
Employees are normally protected by the German statutory accident insurance during working hours. But nowadays everybody spends a lot of time outside their place of employment and should look for additional insurance protection. The casualty insurance normally also pays for injuries which come from physical effort without external cause (e.g. when carrying heavy objects). Such injuries are for example rupture of a ligament or broken bones. It is important to have a compensation insurance because these injuries might lead to permanent dysfunction of a body part. A personal accident insurance is useful to protect oneself against the financial risk of accidental disability. Accidents may not only cause financial problems for the victims but also for their families. Especially the inability to work and earn money should be considered.
Roman Britain
July 9, 2009 by · 11 Comments
You can still also see the Roman mosaics with which they used to decorate their villages in many museums.
Roman Britain enjoyed a quite peaceful time until about 300 AD when it was attacked by many European barbarian hordes and also on the northern front in Britain by Scots and Picts.
The Romans kept pushing back their attackers from both sides and in 410 AD Emperor Constantine removed his British army altogether to defend the Roman Empire at the River Rhine frontier from invasion.
The different cities of Britain had to defend themselves and the Romans never came back.
For the next One Thousand Years Britain again descended back into barbarism and feudalism with only a brief respite when William The Conqueror was ruling here.
For the first 600 years after the Romans, Britain was the battle ground from many different attackers such as the Angles, the Saxons, and even the Celts were pushed back into Wales and Scotland by continuing Viking attacks.
After the Romans had left in 410 AD, the Vikings used to get mercenaries from northern Germany and these mercenaries (Anglo Saxons) with their families were paid for with stolen British Lands where they could farm and set up permanent camps to defend themselves.
Even to this very modern day their Viking Blood Line is very strong in certain parts of the UK.
Eventually the Anglo Saxons realized that they were stronger than their employers (the Vikings) and thus they took control of most of Britain and lands that were not originally provided to them.

The Harry Potter stories and movies have a big group of followers all over the world
June 5, 2009 by · 16 Comments
I am deeply amazed by the heavy worldwide success of the Harry Potter stories. The Harry Potter novels were written by the UK author J.K. Rowling. She saw the light of day on 31 July 1965. Her complete name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the pseudonym J.K. Rowling because primarily her publishing company considered it was a beneficial idea to hide the matter that she is a woman. The publishing house feared it could have a negative effect on the sales figures if everybody immediately sees that the writer was female. Thus, instead of showing her first name she used two initials. As she has no middle name she picked Kathleen as basis for the K. in her pseudonym. Kathleen is the name of her paternal grandmother.
The very first Harry Potter novel – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was released mid 1997 in the UK. Very mentionable is the point that only one thousand units of the first book were printed at the beginning. The original title of the book was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the story was published to the United States market in the year 1998, it was published as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.
After that J.K. invented some more Harry Potter novels. Now the Harry Potter series is made of a total of seven novels. These are:
- Story 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
- Story 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Story 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Story 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Story 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Story 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Story 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
The Harry Potter novels have been translated into over sixty-five languages and have been published all over the world. Besides the big success in the United States and the United Kingdom, Harry Potter is also noticeably renowned in Germany. The Harry Potter novels have been published to German readers under those titles:
- Book 1: Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen
- Book 2: Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens
- Book 3: Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban
- Book 4: Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch
- Book 5: Harry Potter und der Orden des Phoenix
- Book 6: Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz
- Book 7: Harry Potter und die Heiligtuemer des Todes
I must admit that I did not have the opportunity to read all those stories. But there are readers who know them all, which is quite fascinating and contributes to the tremendous success.

Are you looking for a cheap private health insurance (PKV) in Germany? Use the free PKV comparison, and find the right private medical insurance offer from the plurality of insurance companies. On the market there are many PKV insurance suppliers. Here you can find a free comparison of insurance vendors and get your personal health insurance quote: Tarifvergleich Private Krankenkassen
A private medical insurance has different advantages:
You can save charges, if you agree to pay a fixed amount of the yearly medical bills by yourself. This is interesting for healthy people who do not need regular medication. Private patients see the doctors bills and know how much is charged. So you can see how much the different items are. As a private insured, you can control the medical invoices. Before choosing your German private medical insurance vendor, you should always ask for several quotes. That can be done online: Privatversicherungen fuer Freiberufler. Every German, who is not obliged to be a member of the statutory health insurance (GKV), can join the private health insurance. This applies to civil servants and self-employed persons. In addition to employees, whose salaries are above the GKV insurance limit. The insurance limit is a monthly gross salary of 4012.50 Euros or 48,150 Euros per year in 2008.
Many companies offer the option of making adjustments to the tariff of the active contract. That is very helpful when your personal needs change over time. The PKV usually offers better performance than the statutory health insurance. Private health insurance companies may also pay items, which are not paid by the statutory health insurance. This is dependent on your individual contract. The monthly charges of the private health insurance are only dependent on the individual contract and are not calculated in accordance to your income.
Numerous private indemnity insurers can be searched online

When one wants a fitting personal liability assurance then you can use a cost comparison machine to find a personal solution. There you can detect the appropriate private indemnity insurance offer out of the multitude of assurance offerers. The insurance market is ambigious to most clients. There are many insurance providers. As a private person the customer hardly can get the overview. Nevertheless one wants to find the fitting solution. This Internet site provides a free research of German private casualty insurance vendors: Haftpflichtversicherung vergleichen. There the client could start an individual private indemnity assurance research in a short time.
Anyone should think about some important facts when looking for the right private liability assurance on the German market: Your personal indemnity assurance checks by trained staff, whether the claims against you are entitled, and then regulates them. With a personal indemnity insurance you and your family have safeguard against the typical liability risk of everyday life in the private sector. Your private indemnity assurance will help you even if unjustified claims are asserted against you.
The clerk of the insurance provider works on your individual case and decides upon the relevant factual and legal situation whether claims are justified or not. If demands are asserted against you, which you legally are not liable for, then your insurance will help you in the defense of such claims and will give you legal cover. It is not necessary to visit all the German private liability insurers in person when searching the best solution. You can retrieve an online comparison and even contract your private casualty insurance on this Internet site: Private Haftpflichtversicherung.
Your personal indemnity insurance manages the handling of the case and the claims of third parties. If your assurance supplier comes to the conclusion that you are not liable for something, they help you even if anyone sues you therefore. Without having a private indemnity assurance, you must deal by yourself with the claims of the victim or you need to mandate an attorney to do so for you. For example in leisure activities or sports anyone can accidentally cause an injury that might have a large financial size. When one e.g. on the ski slopes get involved into an accident, which leads to permanent health harm, the other party may assert enormous charges.
Although the private casualty assurance was a voluntary insurance in Germany, everybody should cover their own exposure to be charged by a third party in the event of damage. Without personal casualty insurance you are liable for legitimate claims of third parties with your total private assets. If you do not have a personal indemnity insurance, it is the victim that confronts you personally with their charges. You then have to decide whether to pay or to dispute by yourself or to mandate a attorney. A personal liability insurance would have done all that for you. Then you do not stand alone in the event of damage but have professional support by your side.
