Colon Cleanse – Obtain First-Class Advice on Untried Alternatives
July 30, 2009 by · 8 Comments
Colon cancer is growing at an alarming rate, with a mortality rate that is alarmingly close to 50%. The toxicity of fecal matter that remains within the intestine is believed by some to be linked to this increase, prompting people to investigate the best colon cleanse available.
Notwithstanding the fact that individuals in the mainstream medical community say colon cleansing is not necessary or even advisable, it remains a very popular alternative therapy for promoting optimum health.
There are other colon related diseases and disorders than can severely impact an individual’s life, and they can even result in removal of portions of the intestine through a colostomy.
When a significant amount of the small intestine is removed, it results in a colostomy bag, where fecal matter is no longer excreted through traditional methods, and is, instead, detoured into a bag that must be emptied on a regular basis.
Preventing this extreme procedure is the key. Cancer or other disorders of the colon are not always preventable, but there is a percentage of situations where problems are avoidable by maintaining good colon health through colonic irrigation and a healthy diet.
Those trying to maintain colon health through diet typically avoid artificial foods and preservatives, such as high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. These foods can attack your colon because they are not easily digested and excreted; this may make the colon more susceptible to illness.
While it is certainly true that natural foods can contribute to the incidence of colon cancer and disease, artificial, chemical-infused foods are thought to make the risk for serious illness much higher.
Eating foods that are laden with chemicals and synthetic ingredients constantly challenges your colon and digestive system as a whole. This can result in the body being unable to absorb and process nutrients, which in turn can lead to chronic constipation.
This condition goes widely unnoticed by most of its sufferers, as bowel moments are made, but are reduced in size. This is due to the walls of the intestine being coated with hardened matter.
This can effect general health, because suffers become malnourished without knowing a problem even exists. Implementing a healthy diet will help minimize this problem. Natural foods pass naturally.
Incredibly, as much as five to twenty pounds of fecal matter can build up in the colon. At this point, diet may help alleviate the problem, but it won’t eliminate it.
Such high amounts can leave you feeling generally unwell. Colonic irrigation through means of a laxative or hydrotherapy cleanses the bowels entirely, giving your colon a fresh start at absorbing the nutrients it has been missing.
Not only will this improve your overall health, but many people report weight loss from multiple cleansings.
Symptoms that may suggest you would benefit from a colon cleansing are usually subtle, as they can occur for many reasons. Some examples include diarrhea, insomnia, difficulty with weight loss, constipation, abdominal gas, prostate problems, fatigue, headaches and backaches.
To take care of your financial health, you would get your free credit report or free credit score. To take care of physical health some people consider a colon cleanse.
If you experience any of these symptoms outlined in this article, your colon may be trying to tell you something.

What is Magic Mouthwash?
July 29, 2009 by · 14 Comments
To put what it is simply, a magic mouthwash is a combination of different drug items formulated together to be used as a mouthwash for throat issues. They are often used to treat certain effects from certain cancers or cancer treatments or for treating mouth ulcers. Oral Ulcers are caused by radiation therapy and sometimes chemotherapy as well.
Magic Mouthwashes have even been used once in a blue moon in the army and military systems for gonorrhea of the throat. This is usually a preventative measure though prescribed by the pharmacies on site at military bases.
The recipes for the mouthwashes are always in a prescription specified format. Basically a concoction of drugs that will “magically” fix the patients throat issues. It is amazing how well they do work for many people.
There are literally tons of stories out there where terminally ill patients could not even swallow pills but then just hours later after a magic mouthwash they would be eating chips and dip like there was no problem. Though this Mouthwash will not by any stretch save them from their illness, it does provide them comfort and the ability to eat and swallow food and drink once again.
Often times the mouthwash contains a viscous of lidocaine and diphenhydramine for the analgesia. From there the concoctions will differ for each condition and from each different doctor you may have, but you will usually see those first two in most of the blends out there.

Strengthen The Immune System With Maitake Mushroom
July 6, 2009 by · 14 Comments
Natural maitake mushroom\ (Grifola frondosa) may best be known for its cancer-fighting properties. It contains grifolan, an important beta-glucan polysaccharide (molecule composed of many sugar molecules linked together). Grifolan has been shown to activate macrophages, a type of cell consider the “heavy artillery”: of the immune system, explains Larry A. Walker, Ph.D., R.D., author of “Natural products update,” published in Drug Topics, June 1997. D-fraction, one of the polysaccharides in maitake mushroom, also energized the cellular immune system.
The evidence confirming maitake’s therapeutic value both in and out of the laboratory is impressive. Laboratory studies have shown that maitake extract can block the growth of cancer tumors and boost the immune function of mice with cancer.
If we think about mushrooms at all, we may consider them a tasty addition to a salad or casserole. In fact, an estimated 38,000 species of mushrooms, most provide a wealth of protein, fiber, B vitamins, and vitamin C, as well as calcium and other minerals. And at least three species have demonstrated phenomenal healing potential: maitake, shiitake, and reishi. These medicinal mushrooms have been shown to boost heart health; lower the risk of cancer,; promote immune function; ward off viruses, bacteria, and fungi; reduce inflammation; combat allergies; help balance blood sugar levels; and support the body’s detoxification mechanisms.
Why are medicinal mushrooms becoming increasingly popular in North America? Harriet Beinfield, acupuncturist and co-author of Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine, explains: “the movement began with healthy food in the late ’60s; now it’s health medicine. People are interested in medicinal mushrooms because they’ve been used effectively for thousands of years”.
Health benefits aside, maitake mushrooms have an amazing taste. The rich, woodsy flavor and the firm, meaty texture of the flesh make them the standout ingredient of any dish. Maitakes are on their way to becoming one of the staples of the Asian diet (along with soy, fish and tea) that are believed to confer good health and longevity.
In some parts of the world, the healing powers of mushrooms have been known for more than 5,000 years. The western world has taken somewhat longer to discover their benefits. Now, however, they are being taken very seriously, so much so in fact, that the government has sanctioned preliminary studies with Maitake D-fraction, the supplement containing Maitake.
Maitake mushroom is available in easy to take capsule or tablet forms at your local or internet health food store. Look for name brands when purchasing any mushrooms to ensure quality and purity of the product you purchase.

Different Types of Cancer
May 1, 2009 by · 13 Comments
If you can believe it, there are more than a hundred types of cancer – it is just that we get bombarded with the kinds that are most common. These more known cancer types include breast, lung, colon, and prostate. Aside from these, you may have heard about other types such as brain (tumors), bladder, cervical, endometrial, esophageal, head and neck, kidney, leukemia, and lymphoma.
Others however literally have no clear ideas on what exactly are these kinds of debilitating diseases. Cancer is a condition that occurs when damaged cells in any part of the body reproduce at a rapid rate. Normally, cells would grow, divide, and then die in a particular time frame. When a body is young, cells usually reproduce faster. As the body grows older, this slows down and typically just happens when a cell dies or when the body suffers from injuries.
Cancer cells however, have a process of their own: the cells become damaged because of the damage that stems from the DNA they contain. DNA damage can be cause by reasons that we all know – lifestyles. Smoking, a bad diet, pollution – these are just some of the factors that can damage DNA. The bad news though, is that cancer cells can also be caused by reasons as of yet unknown. Even people who live in a healthy fashion can suffer from cancer too.
They just keep on reproducing and since these cells are abnormal, the cells they produce are abnormal as well. Because of the rapid rate that these damaged cells reproduce, they tend to spread to other tissues and damage the cells there as well. 10 Steps to Reduce Back Pain
April 27, 2009 by · 15 Comments
STEP 1 – Have a Medical Examination
Check out the possibility that your back problems are caused by poor posture, excess body weight, everyday stresses, and common causes such as these. However if you suffer from chronic back pain then it may be caused by a serious condition such as slipped or herniated disks, fibromyalgia, injuries to the neck or spine, and very rarely, other conditions such as cancer, kidney infection, and so on. Once you know what you’re dealing with then you are in a position to seek the correct remedies.
STEP 2 – Prevention
If you’ve already damaged your back you can’t go back in time and remedy it but not irritating those injuries further is very important. Be careful with daily activities like lifting, whether it’s something at work or your children and groceries, and jarring such as when you brake hard while driving. Make sure you have an ergonomic workstation at work and don’t remain in one position too long, and be selective with your exercises at the gym. Get advice from a gym instructor.
STEP 3 – Watch Your Posture
Don’t slouch or drape yourself over your desk or remain in one postion too long. Practice good posture both in your car and at home and work.
STEP 4 – Stretch Those Muscles
If you don’t use muscles they wither away and become weaker. Weaker muscles don’t provide the support the body requires and this is a recipe for damaging your back. Try some stretching exercises to get oxygen into your body and improve circulation while toning the muscles. Try to find some time first thing in the morning or before you go to bed.
STEP 5 – Relaxation
Stress can lead to tense muscles which in turn lead to a sore neck, shoulders, headaches, and even neck and back pain. Attack the source of the stress and try yoga, meditation or other relaxation methods.
STEP 6 – Exercise
Inactivity causes problems as we mentioned in step 4 so it’s important to get some exercise. Walking, biking and swimming are all good exercises, or you can use an elliptical machine at your gym. Anything that gets you active without putting strain on your back should be sufficient.
STEP 7 – Lose Weight
If you’re overweight then you’re putting extra strain on your body that it wasn’t designed for and creating long term health problems. As well as creating extra strain for your heart and wear on joints, you are also risking damage to your back. Make healthy eating and exercise a priority.
STEP 8 – Home Remedies
Try a heating pad or hot water bottle, use a recliner to invert, take a hot shower or hot bath, practice some yoga, and try other home remedies. As a one-off they may help reduce pain and longer term use they can help the body to heal.
STEP 9 – Massage
A good massage can reduce the discomfort of back pain, but be sure to advise the masseuse of your problems. If it’s available try a hot stone massage as well. The hot stones can improve the blood circulation and help your back muscles relax.
STEP 10 – Try Everything
One thing on its own may not be the solution but the incremental improvements created by trying multiple remedies may produce the relief from back pain you are seeking. If necessary talk to your doctor about medications or other treatment options. Sometimes taking medications can be the only way to get short term relief from chronic and consistent pain. Back pain is manageable and can be cured, if it receives the correct treatment.

The Atkins Diet
March 17, 2009 by · 6 Comments
Today there are many diets out there to choose from, and if you want to lose weight, it can be a bit difficult to figure out which diet is for you. However, one of the top diet choices out there today is Atkins. Of course before you start any diet you probably want to know a bit more about it and how it works. So, let’s take a look at how the Atkins Diet got started, how it works, who it works best for, and more so you can make the right choice.
Overview of the Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet is a popular diet that was developed by Dr. Atkins. The entire diet is based on the theory of this doctor is that the main problem for people who are overweight is that they eat too many carbohydrates and their body is extra sensitive to them. His idea is that the body and how it processes the carbs you take in each day is what makes you gain more weight. Basically Dr. Atkins feels that many people eat too many carbohydrates, which leads to insulin resistance. In order to remedy this problem, the diet is one that restricts the intake of carbs and focuses on eating a diet that is high in protein. You end up reducing the amount of carbs that you eat each day to make your body start burning off the fat on the body as its fuel.
People the Diet Works Best For
While this diet has been shown to be effective for many people, it seems to work the best for people who really do have an insulin resistance build up in their body. Also, people who are hypoglycemic can really benefit from this diet as well if they are trying to lose weight.
Pros and Cons
You will find that just like any other diet, there are definitely both pros and cons with Atkins diet. Let’s take a look at a few of the pros and cons you’ll find if you try this diet.
- Pro #1 – It’s a Simple Diet – One of the main pros that so many people love is that it is a very simple diet to follow. Once you learn what foods you are supposed to be eating, those you should avoid, and learn to count carbs, it really is a diet that is easy to follow.
- Pro #2 – Finding Your Own Level of Carbs – Another great pro is that the diet does focus on finding the level of carbs that works best for you. Some people may be able to eat a bit more than others, but the focus is to figure out what works for you.
- Pro #3 – A Popular Diet – The Atkins Diet is a popular diet as well. This is a pro because it means that you can easily find information on the diet and support as you are trying to follow it as well.
- Con #1 – You Miss Out on Cancer Fighting Fruits and Vegetables – One of the main cons of this diet is that because of the big restriction on carbs, you actually miss out on some of the most important cancer fighting fruits and vegetables that you need. Add to this that you’re eating more red meat, which too much of can cause cancer, and you may create a dangerous situation.
- Con #2 – You Always Have to Count Carbs – Many people don’t like the fact that they are always having to keep track of the carbs they eat. This means that every single thing that goes in their mouth must be counted, which can get old after awhile.
- Con #3 – Miss Out on Necessary Nutrients – Probably one of big cons to this diet is the fact that you miss out on many necessary nutrients that your body needs, since you cannot eat many foods. While some minerals and vitamins can be taken in a supplement, some of the important phytonutrients that you need cannot be replaced by taking a supplement.
Foods You Can and Can’t Eat
There are several different phases of the Atkins diet and each phase affects the food that you can and cannot eat as well. When you are going through the first two weeks of the Atkins plan, you are only allowed to have 20 grams of carbs each day, and the carbs that you can eat include vegetables that are low in carbohydrates, such as tomatoes, lettuce, and broccoli. During this time you can’t even eat fruits, potatoes, breads, or yogurt, since they have too many carbs. You can’t take in caffeine or alcohol during this time either.
As you go into the second stage of this diet you are allowed to go up to 25 grams of carbs each day. After you get to the weight you want to be, then you can slowly introduce some good carbs into your diet once again, but you have to make sure that you don’t gain back the weight that you have lost. Some of the things that you can add to your diet include plenty of proteins, such as various meats, like red meat, bacon, and you can even add eggs.
The Opinion of the Medical Community
So, you may be wondering what the opinion of the medical community happens to be. Well, the medical community often criticizes Atkins, feeling that there are many dangers to going on a diet that is so low on carbs and so high on protein. Since you cannot eat many fruits and vegetables, doctors fear that people don’t get the nutrients that their body really needs to be healthy. Also, all the fat that is taken in on this diet can be very dangerous. The American Heart Association definitely is concerned with the diet because of the high fat, and the American Dietetic Association is also concerned about it because of the lack of nutrition the diet offers.
