Why Are There So Many Godzilla Toys And Action Figures To Find?
September 26, 2009 by Tucker · 4 Comments
A lot of science fiction and horror films and comic books spawn toys relating to those titles. An enormously well-liked motion picture figure turned toy character is Godzilla. First introduced in Japan in the 1950s, Godzilla has reached a global cult following. Hundreds of figures in Godzilla’s resemblance have been created. If you like this fire-breathing ancient monster, odds are you wish to collect the several Godzilla action figures in existence.
Whether you name him Godzilla or Gojira, there’s no doubt that the enormous green lizard is possibly Japan’s finest import, at least beside Hello Kitty and that Asahi beer. Formerly an intimidating monster and symbol for the nuclear bombardment, Godzilla transformed over time since he debuted in 1954, as director Eji Tsuburaya found out that his largest followers were children, with all of their luscious licensing dollars.
Kaiju collecting can speedily become a very expensive as well as addicting fad. Since the 1960s the kaiju collector has had an ever-increasing number of toys to use their hard earned money on, and for most fans, the most enjoyable element of enjoying a collection is to search for that extraordinary poster, lobby, card, tin toy, etc. Strangely enough, the earliest collectible Godzilla toy was not even manufactured in Japan, but was the America model kit manufactured by Aurora. For many a fan however, the most liked sought after collectible is not that hard to find poster, CD or model set. For many a fan, the most popular and widely collected Godzilla collectibles are the vinyl Godzilla toys which have remained popular for over 3 decades.
Antique Cars: Enjoyable And Sometimes Profitable Hobby
September 26, 2009 by Tucker · 10 Comments
Vintage vehicles are usually defined as a vehicle built between 1919, which may be identified as the end of World War I, and 1930. The end of the antique period in Britain is strictly 1930, while American may prefer 1925 because it is the period identified by Classic Car Club of America.
cars built between the end of this period and the 1950s were not as numerous until the nationwide road system began in the 50’s and production was pumped back up in a more convenient form of transportation. Classic and Antique car designations apply to any vehicles built from the 1890’s to the 1970’s.
Antique vehicles have become a car collector or restorers vehicle of choice for a hobby or investment. These vintage autos were built well for their time, and their novelty keeps interest high in clubs that collect and restore them for the sense of pride or for resale. Many of these collectors restore them and go to shows, swaps or just hold onto them for appreciation.
You can find antique cars many places in different states of restoration. They could be in somebody’s garage, on the Internet or in car magazines. Be sure to choose a subject that is not heavily rusted and has as many original components as possible, for the greatest resale after restoration. You need to keep in mind that you will need plenty of space to disassemble the car and work on it in your spare time.
You may have to do a lot of searching for replacement components, and you need to try to keep the vintage car as close to original as possible. You need to choose paint colors and metal accessories that are as close to the period as possible.
Once you have restored the antique car, then you need to decide if you are going to sell it and try to determine its fair value. You will need to find a way to market the car, and try to collect as much information on the vehicle as you can. Any original manuals or brochures on the vehicle that might reveal some of its history makes it more attractive to car buffs.
Depending on the type of old car, there are many car clubs across the country that specialize in certain models, and make an easy way to buy and sell the antique cars either already restored or in need of restoration. You may need to plan on a car trailer to haul your old car to shows and venues to save wear and tear on the vehicle.
Not all car buffs who get into classic car restoration end up making a profit because repairs can cost more than expected and parts can be hard to come by for certain models. It is best to be realistic when looking at getting into vintage autos, and understand that you may not come out with anything other than a sense of accomplishment from your restoration project.
But if you look carefully and buy the right vehicle, you can certainly end up with a beautiful old car and end up with a nice profit when you are ready to sell, if you do your research. Here is a great list of Vlassic car makers for you to get an idea of what was made.
Car Rentals Agency To Rely Upon
September 24, 2009 by Tucker · 11 Comments
The Number of car rental firms I get mailing me is huge! I get around 10 emails per day from Car Rental firms promoting their latest special offers and discounted vehicle rental prices in Europe and America. Until recently I’ve always doubted if I’m actually getting the best deal out of the hundreds of companies pushing car rentals on the internet… yet everythime I book a flight, or order a hotel somewhere it seems the travel agency or hotel etc ask me about my car rental needs !!!
Are you sure know if the price they are being offered is a competitive price? yes there are deals out there in the car rental market nowadays but with such a huge choice its got to the stage that it just boggles the mind.
With price comparison sites jumping up all over the place it makes sense to check them out, they seem very good when it comes to insurance and buying a car, but not when it comes to rental it seems, however there are a few web sites out there whom seem to be able to grab all the data from the top 30 or so car rental companies around the world and sort through the results that they give you to provide the customer with the best choice of car rentals available on any specific day. The system is integrated into special sites as I’ve seen it running in a few different websites Marbella Car Rentals is one. (Ideal if you need to pick up a rental car from Malaga for instance and drive down the sunny coast of the Costa Del Sol|This site specialises in providing car rentals for collection at Malaga Airport Spain|An ideal website for private apartments and car rentals in Andalucia|Perfect for travelling around the Costa Del Sol}. Also the sister web site for renting a car in Nerja has the same facility.
I’ve heard that the property rental group Rentin.TV is including this car rental portal in every niche property rental site they have through their whole network… so the day might be just around the corner where we only have to think of one name “Rent In” when we need to find a guaranteed low price for car rental wherever we are in the world !!
Powerful Binoculars and Extra Items a Bird Watcher Would Would Like
September 4, 2009 by · 11 Comments
Ornithology is one of the great hobbies which permit you to meet a variety of people, understand about birds, their species and spend time in the open. In case there is some one you know who shares similar interest, you could buy them something which would help them with their leisure pursuit. To answer that, you have to know what they bring along every time they had out into the woods.
Perhaps if you give the person a hat, that would be a present that doesn’t cost the earth. Not only would this gift can help prevent the glare of the sun and protect them from its rays. The next gift idea is a pair of cargo pants with multiple pockets which are good for small necessary items.
Equally (if not more) useful is a bird watching vest, since this has even more areas to stow stuff. They can put their cell phone on one pocket, snacks, water, map, and insect repellent and more on the others making it within arm’s length instead of taking this out of the back pack. If you think that their old back pack is due to be replaced, you could get a new one and save them the trouble. Since these people do not carry too much with them throughout the day, you really only need to buy something that is just large enough for a day out.
The gift which costs most for a birdwatcher is a pair of decent binoculars. But what are the best compact binoculars? Quality compact binoculars are expensive because of the optics involved which allow the bird watcher to see the birds from a distance with great clarity. There are some pocket sized binoculars where the lens can be interchanged and some which allow night vision as well as photo shoots and video capture. Since birdwatchers usually log which species they see, where and their numbers, so a bird watching journal could be a great idea for a present.
For a gift with a difference, why not pay for an annual subscription to a bird watching magazine, preferably one they already read. Well pictures, information and stories about birds which frequent places around the globe, most often from areas where they have never visited. Those who can spare some cash can even send the person off on a bird watching vacation perhaps up north in Canada or down to South America. Of all the varieties of birds, there are still vast numbers that live outside of America although some might visit during certain seasons.
So which one should you buy? A short conversation will already give you several ideas, and then you just have to pick the right one that is within your budget and meaningful to the person. It’s possible that during the course of your shopping, you might learn to appreciate bird watching yourself. Instead of just supporting that person, you could soon join them on excursions!

Robert Burns In The US House Of Representatives
August 22, 2009 by · 9 Comments
Scots Poet Robert Burns may have been dead for a couple of hundred years but that did not stop him earlier this year from making an impressive impact on the House of Representatives. In fact the impact caused them to pass a Resolution to confirm the link between the work of Robert Burns and the USA.
Congressman Mike McIntyre of North Carolina proposed and steered the resolution through the House of Representatives in February 2009. North Carolina is of course the US State where thousands of early Scottish settlers put down their roots and now boosts more people who pride themselves in their Scottish ancestry than there are Scots living in the whole of Scotland.
The Resolution also recognised that Robert Burns had truly inspired the Founding Fathers of America writing inspirational poems such as “Ode for General Washington’s Birthday” and “Ballard on the American War”.
“Scots Wha Hae”
One of Robert Burns most famous songs Scots Wha Hae has long been recognised as the unofficial Battle Cry for Scotland’s own independence from foreign rule was actually inspired by the American struggle for Independence from the same ruling country.
At the back of Robert Burns mind was his strong belief that the United States victory in achieving independence would trigger off a monster size wave of independence war happening right across Europe.
President Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was one of many Americans who took part in Burns Night celebrations. Shortly before his election he not only attended but gave the famous immortal speech to remind every person there exactly why they are meeting to celebrate the birth and life of Robert Burns who was an inspiration to so many around the world. It was reported that Lincoln was so moved enough by Robert Burns life and his poetry he tried with mixed success to give the address in an America version of the Scots Tongue (not and easy task for anyone to do even us born and living in Scotland would have to practice this).
Do You Really Need to Lose Weight?
June 8, 2009 by · 10 Comments
The subject of weight loss is a tricky subject in America. Self-images get distorted by what we see in the media, especially on TV and in the movies. So many young girls (and boys, too) think they are fat, when they are actually underweight and become anorexic or bulimic, or have other eating disorders.
For many losing weight is a good way to improve one’s overall health and maybe necessary for one’s survival. But for those whose concept of their bodies are off kilter, trying to lose weight can become a horrible nightmare that can lead to one’s death.
Figuring out when you need to lose weight and when you do not is an important step in taking control over your health care. This is your body and reaching that balance point of your optimum weight can add years to life.
So should you be taking off some pounds? While this depends upon your personal judgment, in general, if you are more than 20 pounds overweight, losing those pounds can improve your health.
The first thing to do is to look-up the recommended weight for someone of your size and age. Next take into consideration that everyone’s body is different. Your ratio of fat to muscle will be different than someone else’s. And being a little heavier maybe just right for you. If you are an athlete, for example, than those “extra pounds” may be all muscle that you need for your work.
Check with your doctor if you feel like your weight is out of balance. A doctor can tell if your weight is normal or not. And it maybe time to lose some weight.
There are people, however, who definitely do not need to lose weight. Hey, if you aren’t as thin as your favorite actor or model, that doesn’t mean you need to lose weight. Here is a little behind the scenes secret: Models and actresses are airbrushed in photos to look more toned. They wear clothes that enhance their shape. And they are often forced, for their jobs, to weigh less than is healthy for them.
If your body weight is normal, you do not need to lose weight, even if your pants are a size bigger than the celebrity of the month.
There are also periods in your life when it is natural to be gaining weight. This is especially common during puberty and for the first few years into your early twenties. If you are gaining weight, check out the rest of your body – are you going through a growth spurt in height as well?
If you have started working out, you may also be gaining weight, at first. As you tone your muscles, you will look better, but may weigh more. That is because muscles are heavier than fat. More muscles and less fat is a good thing.
Finally don’t base your weight loss or gain decisions simply because someone else makes a rude comment about your looks. People are cruel. Remember that everyone has a different body make up. If you are happy with your weight and it is within the normal range for someone of your age and height, chances are that the rude comment is stemming from other issues, not because you actually need to lose weight.
Be happy with yourself and eat a healthy diet. There is an optimum weight for you, but you get to decide what it is and whether losing weight is the right thing to do.
An Overview of Cystic Fibrosis
May 27, 2009 by · 12 Comments
Cystic fibrosis affects over 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Many people are carriers and may not know it. The disease affects the mucus producing glands of the body. Cystic fibrosis also affects the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive organs as well as the sweat glands in the body. The normal, thin, liquid lining the passageways to the digestive and respiratory areas of the body becomes blocked when that normal lining turns thick and begins to block the passageways to these parts of the body.
Cystic fibrosis is the most common hereditary disease in Caucasians in the United States. Nearly ten million Caucasians in America are carriers of the mutant gene that causes the disease and are unaware of that fact. Caucasians have a higher risk of getting cystic fibrosis although the disease has been detected in all ethnic groups. Breaking the statistics down so we can understand them is this; one in 31 Americans are carriers of the disease and have no symptoms to identify them as carrying the defective gene.
It is devastating to a parent when their child is diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. They may feel guilt because this disease is an inherited medical condition. A parent may not know they are a CF gene carrier. If both parents are carriers there is a 25 percent chance one of their children will be born with cystic fibrosis. There is a 50 percent chance one or more of their children will be carriers, and a 25 percent chance the child will not be diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
Note: People should consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.

You Can Find Your Favorite Cartoon Characters in Southern California
March 30, 2009 by · 9 Comments
Recently I’ve had the chance to visit some of the great theme parks in Southern California. Between them all, you can immerse yourself in the world of a bunch of your favorite TV and movie characters.
We know where to find Mickey Mouse and all his Disney friends—in Anaheim. If you’d like some good information about planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort, check out the SoCal Vacation Guru. Disney has no-doubt done the most effective job of bringing imaginary characters to life, much to the delight of us all.
A few miles down the road at Knott’s Berry Farm you’ll find all the Peanuts gang at Camp Snoopy. Knott’s has done a nice job of absorbing Charlie Brown, his faithful pet and their friends into their culture. Do they still have the Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America in Minnesota?
Hit Universal Studios Hollywood and you can find Spiderman, Betty Boop, the Flintstones, Woody Woodpecker and a squadron of other beloved Universal characters; Universal has been at the heart of many television shows as well as famous movies. You can find some good details about Universal Studios Hollywood at the SoCal Vacation Guru.
Before leaving Universal I have four words for you: Homer Simpson. Yes, The Simpsons have been immortalized in their own attraction at this great theme park. That includes Krusty the clown and many other residents of Springfield.
Lastly, we drive up north a ways and stop at Six Flags Magic Mountain. According to the SoCal Vacation Guru, this park is best known for its roller coasters and other thrill rides. But skulking around the place are the nutty characters of Warner Brothers cartoons, notably the Loony Toons guys.
Porky is there, along with Daffy, Yosemite Sam, Tweety and the others. Beep Beep! There’s a nice area for small children; the park management has figured out that not everyone is a teen-age or twenty-something thrill ride fanatic. The characters are very charming and are pretty easy to find around the mountain. This joint may be my favorite.
