August 7, 2009 by
As an experienced computer analyst, the most common problem I hear from people is ‘Why is my pc running so slow?‘ Don’t you wish your computer ran as fast now as it did when it was new? So how does a computer that runs so fast out of the box become slow? You probably did it to yourself and do not know it. Computers have to store all sorts of configuration and setup data every time you install a new program. There are thousands of free software downloads, plugins, toolbars and the like available on-line, and most people install at least a few of these programs.
You can un-install these programs, but often even doing that leaves traces behind. These traces are in the form of invalid Windows registry entries. So your computer has a program listed in its registry, but no longer exists on the hard drive. You PC wastes valuable processing time trying to locate these now-missing programs, resulting in a slowdown.
Computer cleanup programs can be your answer. These tools scan your system for invalid and incorrect registry issues and fix them automatically. Many of the tools can be downloaded instantly over the web for a small fee. The best ones identify all of the common issues and result in a complete computer cleanup. Software like this can help you keep your PC running healthy and fast.
Try one of these powerful programs; it is the best weapon you can get to get slow computer help. Help yourself to this easy way to fix your problem computer yourself, without having to hire a professional technician. You’ll save money and be productive again very quickly.

I'm not certain, but I believe there is a way to have Apple not send you any emails once you set up an Apple account. I know this works when you set up an Apple Store account, and when you register your computer online.
As for getting notices about Apple products you've purchased, I've never bothered with email notices (and that's with using Macs since they were first introduced “eons” ago.) When you get your Mac set up, simply set the preference for Software Update to a schedule you feel comfortable with, and you'll find out about software fixes or updates soon enough.
Also, if you use an RSS reader (try NetNewsWire Lite or Vienna, both of which are free; or you can use Safari), Apple has a few RSS feeds that are worth tracking for product announcements and technical notes.
Hope this helps the transition…
