Learning To Drive
October 26, 2009 by Tucker
Learning to drive and pass your driving test can be one of the most exciting times of our lives leading to new levels of freedom, independence and job opportunities it can also be very expensive and take a long time, which is why choosing the right driving instructor or driving school is so important.
Learning to drive is an exciting, frightening and often confusing endeavour, learning to drive a car safely and efficiently in modern traffic involves much more than passing a government road test to get a license. For some, learning to drive might be the most nerve-wracking thing they’ve ever done, and for others, the best thing.
Before you can start learning to drive, you must hold a valid signed provisional driving licence to drive on a public road. The Minimum age for learning to drive in the UK is 17, and you can apply for your provisional licence two weeks before your birthday.
Why choose a driving instructor? It’s best to take Driving lessons in Wakefield with a qualified driving instructor who will follow the recommended syllabus for learning to drive. Approved instructors have to pass tough theory and driving tests, as well as having their tuition standards checked regularly. A good driving instructor should be punctual, reliable, have a good reputation and have a car that is suitable for you.
The advantages of being taught by a professional driving instructors Wakefield are that they are trained to do the job, possess the skills to deal with nervous and hesitant drivers and are equipped with dual-controlled cars.
Practice makes permanent, so when your driving instructor thinks you are ready, why not get more practice with family or a friend. You can practice your driving with a friend or relative if they are over 21 years old and have held a full licence for at least 3 years.
How do you choose the right driving instructor? Look at driving school websites. Don’t expect a good driving instructor for the price a cheap instructor charges. Choosing the right driving instructor is essential. Some of the problems with poor instructors are they sometimes try to build the upper floors of the house before finishing the foundations!
Look for an instructor who offers excellent instruction and has a good reputation. They will probably charge a little more per driving lesson but if you do this it will cost less in the end.
You can start your driving lessons whilst studying for the theory test, but you must first pass a theory test before you can apply for your practical test. Whilst learning to drive a wide range of resources can be found from your local library, including books and videos. It is also well worth getting your eyesight tested before learning to drive.

The explanation (or “admission against interest” in this case) pointing to dual citizenship is right at this FactCheck link.
which points to this British law
with this explanation
“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom's dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.'s children:
“British Nationality Act of 1948 (Part II, Section 5): 'Subject to the provisions of this section, a person born after the commencement of this Act shall be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent if his father is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of the birth.'
“In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC.
“Obama's British citizenship was short-lived. On Dec. 12, 1963, Kenya formally gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Chapter VI, Section 87 of the Kenyan Constitution specifies that:
'1. Every person who, having been born in Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963…
'2. Every person who, having been born outside Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall, if his father becomes, or would but for his death have become, a citizen of Kenya by virtue of subsection (1), become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963.'
“As a citizen of the UKC who was born in Kenya, Obama's father automatically received Kenyan citizenship via subsection (1). So given that Obama qualified for citizen of the UKC status at birth and given that Obama's father became a Kenyan citizen via subsection (1), it follows that Obama did in fact have Kenyan citizenship after 1963.”

Those laws in there are for very specific reasons. As a young person, it is hard for you to see it, but those in your age bracket are statistically the most likely to get in an accident.
Believe it or not, most of those your age who have had horrible accidents all thought they were mature and responsible drivers and for the most part, they may have been right. However, it only takes a second for that friend in your front seat to get you wrapped up in a conversation or do something which will take away your attention from the road.
Also, I am not just talking about actions, but also attitudes. How many times when not in a vehicle have one or two of your friends dared you to do something? How many times have they said "oh don't worry about your parents… just do it!" How many times have you taken a risk, even seemingly small, because a friend wanted you to do it?
If you say 0 to any of the above, I know you are lying, unless you also want to tell me that you have been living inside a sealed cardboard box your entire life. Everyone has done these things, most of us from the time we were very young to our late teens and some into their 20's and on. However, it is less likely that a parent or guardian will try to get you to beat that train or red light or will encourage you to speed to get somewhere, whereas your friends might.
And as to your first question, yes, that is what it means. You must have a licensed driver who does not have any kind of probationary license or status in the front seat. It cannot be one of your friends.
Hey Scott,
It is a wonderful thing to be able to make your passion your life's work. Years after I have left YD's employ, I still feel passionately too about safe driving. As a motorcylist, an insurance rep and a past driving instructor, I believe safety behind the wheel needs to be everyone's sole focus every time they drive. Keep up the good work!
Lynedesroberts: Unfortunately, I won't be able to change my driving school… I can't say that my teacher is completely useless but I just wish he would be a little more “teacher-like”.
Driving Instructor: At the moment, it's dangerous with me on the road.
Well, I could be better I suppose. Thanks for your support! I also checked out the driving school blog you linked in your comment; the video was very useful and interesting! I'm glad there are actually some driving schools out there that sincerely want to educate their students.
Ugly queers with bad teeth that try to control everybody.

interview with the actor who portrayed the troubled driving instructor. I had not realized that Leigh works with an ensemble of people and often comes up with dialog on the fly as the actors improv. What a wonderful way to work, esp. from this actor's point of view. Anyway, the actor mentioned that he came up with Enraha in rehearsal as in improv. Could very well be a “sounds like” that popped into his head and dovetails with the other comment from Bruce C.]]>
