Little Benny sits at the head of the table…..
Little Benny would not remember me.
But I rememeber him. I remember him real good.
I did a gig with Little Benny 20 years ago.
It was The Afram Festival in Baltimore.
Appearing on the bill was Levert & War
I was a “novice” guitarist at the time.
My band opened for Little Benny & The Masters
After we played he said I was a great guitarist.
This was my first “big-time gig” playing with national acts.
He said I was a great guitarist…..THAT BLEW MY MIND !!!
Then his band went on. I stood in the wings and watched.
And I stood in the wings and learned. HE WAS AWESOME.
The Little Benny I met and played with was a class act.
He was a pro musician and a total AND complete gentleman.
Like I said, he would not remember me.
But I remember him……..I remember him real good.
