It's $7 per transaction of the same shares. So if You bought Ford shares and IBM shares, that's two transactions. T more shares you buy and sell at a time, the less the buy and sell fee cuts into your profits. Sometimes you have to pay an X amount of dollars to get a deal like that or it could be like my online broker where I can buy shares every Tuesday for $4, but the sell fee is around $15. No you don't have to find a buyer or seller. That's the job of the broker most of the time. Online brokers generally don't have all the different stocks you can buy. Not all shares sell on a major exchange. There are "bulletin boards" which are smaller exchanges. Those may or may not be credible. Then there are other stocks that are literally traded by hand. That's because the company does not want to pay a fee to have its stocks traded or it doesn't meet the requirements to be listed.
