Before the internet, television and radio, people would wait days to receive the news. Now we receive news almost instantaneously from the internet and news channels on the television. News sources now have to compete with one another to be the first to publish breaking news stories. This rush may cause errors in the news stories. When I looked up the word “news” in the “Merriam-Webstar Dictionary,” it stated the definition of news as, “a report of recent events…material printed in a newspaper or news periodical or on a newscast.” The changes in technology and the people's thirst to receive news when convenient has changed the definition of news. News is still a report of recent events but now with the internet it contains a vast number of sources from that of a newspaper, news periodical and a newscast.
