How to Get More Web Traffic

February 17, 2009 by

Traffic is essential to any website and no traffic means no sales. But how do you drive more web traffic to your site? Well, the truth is that there is no single answer. You need to employ a multi-pronged strategy in order to get more traffic to your website. There are some methods that you can employ to increase your website traffic using these straight-forward yet effective techniques.

The first method is to actually pay for advertising for your website. This can be done using such services provided by Google, Yahoo and MSN where you pay to have your website listed in their sponsored links section when a user searches for a key term. This will get traffic to your website almost immediately. It is important to refine each ad campaign to find out if you can maximize the return on investment.

The second technique is to write articles and content. Include content on your website that is relevant to the products and services you are promoting. Make sure you use web analytics to see what search terms people are using and then make sure you write about those topics. If you have the time or knowledge then you could write these articles yourself or you could hire a freelance author to do it for you. This is certainly one of the most effective techniques of getting more web traffic to your site. You must also make sure that you publish some articles to syndication sites that will allow other website owners to benefit from your experience and knowledge.

The third technique I would recommend is to submit your website to the top search engines. These include Google, Yahoo and MSN. This will get increased traffic by users searching for content that you have developed using the above techniques.

The fourth technique is to partner with somebody else on the web that is selling similar complimentary products. Exchange links with these partners in order to increase your rankings on the search engines.

The fifth technique is to find forums that are relevant to your products or services and participate in the conversation threads. Try not to oversell your products or services as you will most likely be banned. Instead, only answer the questions that people ask to make yourself the true expert in the field so that people will visit your website.

Another technique is to buy web traffic in bulk. There are numerous websites that will sell web traffic in high volumes and at relatively low cost. This can be a very cost effective method of getting visitors to your site within a tight budget.

These techniques are inexpensive methods to get people to visit your website. While not the only techniques out there for driving traffic to your website these are some of the most effective techniques that will help to get your website noticed.

I don't think that Google offers a storage service, but for your Office documents like Word,Excel, Powerpoint and Adobe PDF you can use Google Docs, but you cannot save songs or videos, or anything else there.
You can however use Microsoft's service, Windows Live Skydrive, the interface is a bit slow but it works.

You need to sign in with your Windows live ID (or Hotmail)

You will create a TDI Driver. – The project should be written in C++ that can be compiled in Visual Studio. – The TDI will transparently intercept all web traffic traffic and log relevant information… (Budget: $250-750, Jobs: C/C++, Windows) Go to Source Post similar project on sosexpert.com

For me Web 2.0 is mostly about empowering users. Thus I think that Web analytics is a natural complement to those users who participate. But the problem for me is that more than 90% of the users are not participating. Manual web analytics is still a very narrow phenomenon, and will more or less stay as it is. Eventually many of us may want to see statistics about our delicious friends, flickr views, wow gaming and rss-reader usage, but how many of us really use that information to guide our behavior? (I don't have an answer, but it doesn't feel like a mass-phenomenon. Mainly because I think it is an interesting idea to get data about your own actions… and Im used to being in minority with my ideas ;)

But I must agree with Leevi, that what Amazon is doing with analytics data is something that is someway changing the rules of the game. Maybe we should separate “manual” web analytics and “automatic” web analytics?

Amazon uses analytics data to empower 100% of its users. I think that deserves a closer look, because current Web 2.0 services are only grasping the surface, imho. Analytics-driven Websites are definitely something very much Web 2.0, but I would still question the importance of manual web analytics for the masses.

    Marshall,

“The study in question” is our most recent survey entitled, “Web Analytics in a Recession”. In Eric's blog we gave a sneak preview of the results to date, but we will be releasing the complete survey results after Labor Day Weekend.

Our next survey will be a “BEST OF” Survey where we will ask the web analytics community to vote on the Best Vendor, Best Interactive Agency, Best Blog, etc…

Outstanding idea to parallel the diminishing attorney's advice as “Emily Postesque.” I can think of MUCH easier ways to commit extortion than to point a figure at a true workplace bully.

I worked on the background for this article and the freelance author was very clear about her chances to write it. The new editor of Parade came from People and almost didn't do the piece. Editor Maggie Murphy needs to be encouraged to take this further, especially after she sees the outcome of the poll numbers.

[...] Bob Clarke wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptRegardless of the type of online business you are operating, if you want a solid web presence, then there’s only one vital component that you need: web traffic. Traffic is the heart of any web business. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling a product, or you’re subscribe to a pay per click program like Google AdSense, or you’re selling your services, you need traffic so that people will get to know your business. Fortunately, there are countless web promotional strategies available that can generate a large quantity of visitors to your site. Article marketing is, without a doubt, the most well received and the most powerful of these traffic-generating strategies. It is the simplest, as well. Article marketing can, quite honestly, be accomplished in 3 simple steps. 1. Craft an article dealing with a topic relevant to your business. Guarantee that this article is highly informative, thatit is a piece that readers will actually […] [...]

I recommend you delete this because it could turn up as you plagiarizing if they decide to search your essay.

    That's a good start.

However, it will be better if you cut most of your paragraphs into two pieces and, believe it or not, use simpler words.

Think about the Gettysburg Address and how simple, personal and direct it is.

You need to make this statement much more personal and mention personal experiences. At this point the statement reads like an abstract philosopy essay, which is not what it is supposed to be,

You also have lots of very awkward syntax and a few grammar mistakes.

You should put this important document through at least six drafts.

Directories are human edited lists of Internet resources, arranged hierarchically. Directories are meant to be browsed, but they can also be searched.

Examples of well known directories are the Open Directory Project (DMOZ) and Google's directory

Google's directory is unusual in that it is not human edited but that is because it is a copy of DMOZ.

Search engines spider the web (following links) and visit every website they can find. They then rank them for whatever keywords you search on, hoping to provide the most relevant at the top (first). The ranking process uses a proprietary algorithm which is why the search results are different for each search engine.

    Hope that helps.
