Gas Furnace Prices – How To Get The Best Value-For-Money
October 30, 2009 by Tucker
With the colder weather now drawing near, many people will be looking to replace their gas furnace with an improved, more efficient model. Gas furnace prices are an important factor in achieving a cost-effective solution to your heating requirements.
Make certain that you do not make the mistake that many people make and that is to select your new gas furnace solely on the basis of which one is the cheapest. This may be an expensive mistake over the long-term.
You need to buy a furnace that is sufficient for your heating needs and is not ‘over-specified’. Given that future gas prices are very likely to be higher than they are today, you should look at buying a high-efficiency furnace. Although this will cost you more initially than a low-efficiency furnace, the long-term savings on gas should more than offset the difference in price.
You will also need to consider the costs of routine maintenance and servicing as well as the guarantees and warranties that the furnace manufacture will supply with your new furnace. The availability of spare parts and how quickly these can be obtained and fitted also need to be considered to ensure that your heating is never out-of-action.
The current economic climate means that gas furnace manufactuers and dealers are desperate for your business. This means that there are some real bargains to be obtained if you shop around for the best gas furnace prices.
A new gas furnace is a major purchase so you should take plenty of time to ensure that you get the best combination of price, performance and economy that you can.

Nowadays, electric ignition is used by most of the furnaces to light which makes it user friendly. But this is not the case with the old furnaces as pilot light may sometimes cause the burner to go out
80% if fine. It is about ten percent less efficient than the best you can buy and probably more reliable.
The price is not far out of line unless it's just a drop-dead-easy change-out.
Using electric for heating is always the most expensive. Gas/propane is a little more expensive than oil BUT, it's cleaner and requires almost no maintenance. Heatpumps are nothing more that an A/C that works in reverse for heat., it's still electric.
J_G – I heard nothing in that sentence about the free market or removing shackles or anything of the like. All I heard was a Republican line that Democrats are preventing a vote on legislation to lower the gas prices, as if all it takes is a sweep of the legislative pen and – voila – gas prices go down. Question for you: can you absolutely guarantee me that gas prices will fall the moment Republicans manage to get their legislation passed? Because that's what they seem to be promising: legislation to lower gas prices. I'd love to see Republicans get the legislation they want just to see how much instant relief I'll get at the pump the next day after.
What to Know About Gas Furnace Prices -
Hope ya'll noticed how the gas prices dropped the day before the election tuesday? And shot right back up the next day…illuminate n glo!
Everyone knows that any talk about lowering gas prices is political pandering.
For future reference, if a politician, whether Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green, Communist, or Fascist, starts promising lower gas prices, he/she is making an empty promise out of their control.
From my understanding, high gas prices are driven by the insatiable demand for gas in China, India, Brazil, and other emerging developing countries.
The weak US dollar also doesn't help. Unfortunately, there are very few if any tools at the control of US politicians to affect either of these trends.
In my opinion, the only credible solution to the high gas prices is to develop better and more efficient substitutes. In fact, from an environmental perspective, high gas prices are exactly what the world needs to decrease carbon-intensive energy consumption.
So any politician who is (*cough McCain *cough Clinton) promising lower gas prices is missing the point and purely pandering to the people. Let the people beware.

Getting sick of going to work at night, and coming home in the morning to see that the gas prices have shot up over night…
