I'd work until it measured 3-1/2" while lying flat and smooth on a smooth, hard surface. On my foot, I'd verify the sock had reached the top of my instep and the edge of my heel area.

Well, you've probably never seen me in sock feet, so, yes, I would be about six feet and a quarter inch to you.

Do you think there are others who do prefer long collective readings? “Overdrawn” is a good word, IMO. I relate, of course!
