Just about anything you can think of can become baby shower favors. The elaborate centerpiece could be raffled off when the party is over, or you could simply give each guest item marked with the date of the party when the shower is over. The favor will be a lasting reminder of that special day regardless of the type of favor chosen.
Baby shower favors are described as thoughtful small gifts that are given to the guests to serve as a thank you for coming to the shower. You can also use baby shower favors as prizes if baby shower games are planned. At times baby shower favors are integrated with the party theme although it is not necessary to do so. It is up to the hostess to decide.
Budget may be a factor when choosing baby shower favors, since the hostess is the one footing the bill. You might want to consider to have a group act as hostess to share the expense. Delegate tasks such as the items that need to be bought and the baby shower games that need to be planned. One person could be responsible for tracking down decorations, another could be responsible for buying the baby shower favors and so on. After the party, guests can take the candy home and leave the bottles for the mother-to-be. You can always use each type of decorations for smaller tables and use a large baby shower centerpiece for the main table if you prefer.
Baby shower favor choices are endless it is best to categorize them into four main groups: personalized, decorative, edible and pampering. Baby pacifier lollipops, baby socks filled with candy or baby feet gummies are all examples of edible favors. Items that can be engraved or event group photos of the guests such as a group shot enclosed in a picture frame are personalized baby shower favors. Scented soaps, votive candles or candles shaped like bunnies, baby booties or baby bottles are decorative favors. Any of the above items will serve well as baby shower decorations also.
You should wait until the end of the party to hand out the baby shower centerpiece or other decorations if they double as decorations for the party. It is not imperative to have baby shower favors by any means, but they make a nice reminder for the guests when the party is over. Baby shower favors can leave a smile on everybody’s face, and everyone likes to leave the party with a little something to remember it by.

maybe that's where they need people…and some places start employees out as host/hostess since it's easier to learn and will move them to waitstaff in the future

Keep the guest happy if they are waiting for a table
don't flood the dining room make sure you pace the seating for the kitchen so the tickets come back evenly
make sure you know your servers some can handle more than others if one server is better with a table of all women try to seat in their section
try not to promise anything to guests that you can not deliver
Know your menu and specials for the night so you can answer any questions for the guest
make sure you know the goal of the restaurant owner/manager
