Cheap Private Health Insurance Vendors in Germany

June 1, 2009 by

Are you looking for a cheap private health insurance (PKV) in Germany? Use the free PKV comparison, and find the right private medical insurance offer from the plurality of insurance companies. On the market there are many PKV insurance suppliers. Here you can find a free comparison of insurance vendors and get your personal health insurance quote: Tarifvergleich Private Krankenkassen

A private medical insurance has different advantages:

You can save charges, if you agree to pay a fixed amount of the yearly medical bills by yourself. This is interesting for healthy people who do not need regular medication. Private patients see the doctors bills and know how much is charged. So you can see how much the different items are. As a private insured, you can control the medical invoices. Before choosing your German private medical insurance vendor, you should always ask for several quotes. That can be done online: Privatversicherungen fuer Freiberufler. Every German, who is not obliged to be a member of the statutory health insurance (GKV), can join the private health insurance. This applies to civil servants and self-employed persons. In addition to employees, whose salaries are above the GKV insurance limit. The insurance limit is a monthly gross salary of 4012.50 Euros or 48,150 Euros per year in 2008.

Many companies offer the option of making adjustments to the tariff of the active contract. That is very helpful when your personal needs change over time. The PKV usually offers better performance than the statutory health insurance. Private health insurance companies may also pay items, which are not paid by the statutory health insurance. This is dependent on your individual contract. The monthly charges of the private health insurance are only dependent on the individual contract and are not calculated in accordance to your income.

Interesting idea. 6 month time limited money is guaranteed to be spent.. The money will help sustain those who desperately need it for some time but won’t the same economic problems just return in 6 months? The idea of government ‘giving citizens money’ seems strange to me since that ‘money’ IS the people’s to begin with (collected through taxation or subversive taxation – devaluing the dollar via printing more).

Was your wife's previous treatment for heart palpitations disclosed in the application for short term disability insurance?

If she did disclose the condition and the policy was issued without a restriction she is entitled to the benefits. If she did not disclose the fact she had prior treatment then the company is entirely within its legal rights to refuse coverage.

    Hi Ian,
thankyou for your comment. The issue of private or statutory health insurance is quite complex. I can only state what my experience and those of my friends have been, of whom many chose the public option after a lot of consideration, despite its imperfections and how my experiences tally with the figures. To cover all aspects goes way beyond the scope of this blog and I cannot possible give room here to all the points which have to be balanced.

I´m sorry if you feel that you are being ripped off. Sometimes I do too. On the other hand I live a very comfortable life in this country, where most people have insurance, be it private or public and can afford it. No insurance can tell you you cannot have an insurance due to a pre-existing condition or drop you when they find out you are a victim of domestic violence as happens in the States.

I wonder though, why you say you would have chosen private if you had been younger when you arrived here. Why not switch now?

My experience is that “we” tend to nag and forget the advantages over the disadvantages. Hope you agree.

    Have a great week-end

I have had several similar conversations and can still not understand why people think the health care system we currently have is any good.

    Mono,
I do sometimes wonder is single payor isn't the best way to go. From what I can tell, Medicare seems to work very well for the most part. I just wonder how well that would translate to the population at large.

    Michael,
I agree with you (I think) regarding the way medical insurance differs from other types of insurance coverage. It seems to me that when you need medical insurance the most (i.e., when you're ill), you're the least appealing customer to the provider of medical insurance (the insurance company).

I've never heard of any. I do know that when I was in this situation and I was 6 hours late for a United flight, they put me on the next one without making me pay.

I had a ticket on Singapore Air from Korea to California and then a separate ticket on United from California to Chicago. It was a busy day, but I didn't even have to explain much.

Usually I allow lots of connection time.

I'm sorry too: the idea of a state medical system seemed good at the time. But the NHS is dead. Like many of its patients it's been left lying around on a trolley for so long, no one's taken a hard look at it for a while. But the stench is now unmistakeable.]]>
