Catching New Customers With A Stunning Website Design

October 18, 2009 by

A well designed and properly executed website design can be a real boon to your business, but a poorly designed website could actually be costing you money. If your website appears amateurish or hastily thrown together potential customers may take one look before going elsewhere to get what they need. That is why it is so critical for business owners to use the same care and consideration they put into other facets of the business when designing a website.

No matter what your line of business may be, a professionally designed and well polished website is an integral part of the success of your firm. Your website should not be an afterthought – if it is that will show in the look and feel of the site.

It is vital that the website you create project a professional image, and that the site incorporate a consistent design throughout all the pages. One of the biggest mistakes newcomers to the web make is not using the same look and feel for all pages on the site. In some cases the pages look so different that visitors may think they have left the site altogether. If you want your customers to stay around long enough to purchase your products you will need to provide them with a consistent and pleasing web browsing experience.

When laying out your initial website design it may be helpful to think about what you like – and what you do not like – in the websites you visit. If you are turned off by flashing banner ads and annoying sounds chances are your customers will be as well. If you are attracted to clean designs and sites that are easy to navigate chances are your potential buyers will be too. Thinking about what makes a good website can help you design a website that gets real results.

No matter how well designed your website may be it is always a good idea to look at the site through the eyes of a customer. This can be hard to do, especially if you have designed the site from the ground up. If you had a hand in building and designing the site it can be hard to spot its flaws and make the necessary adjustments, so you may want to have an independent observer take a look at the site and give you some feedback. This type of honest feedback can be invaluable when you are building your site, since it helps you see your design through the eyes of those who have never visited your company’s website before.

    I use a few different sites for this, but the Wc3 schools website has the best examples that you can copy and paste or adapt to use for yourself. Even when you are an experienced programmer it can still be difficult to know everything.

    Hi,
    I just read your article about how to send filemaker data to the
    web. I'm by no means a web designer but kinda thrown into
    designing a website. My boss wants the information that is put into the form by the user to be collected and sent to filemaker.
    Is there a way of doing what you talk about in your article but basically the reverse? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey
    My name is Reem and I am from a private school in salt lake city, Utah called Realms of Inquiry and for our computer class project we are designing a website called globalactivists.org and will be posting blogs/stories of volunteer projects all over the world. We hope this will inspire people to go out there and make the world a better place. With your permission I will post your blog on our website. If you have any photos of you volunteering that I may use on the site, it would be great. Thanks.

    You can use CSS(cascading style sheets).

    Just add the following code somewhere in between your <head></head> tags in example:

    <head>
    <style type="text/css">

    body {
    background-image: url('yourbackgroundimage.gif');
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-attachment: fixed;
    }
    </style>
    </head>

    Independent Observer: That’s false. The majority of violent Muslim deaths since ‘91 have been a the hands of other Muslims.

    That's the elephant in the room that defenders of Islamism always like to ignore. Then again, they are quite similar to those who look back fondly at Stalin and ignore the 20 million he killed. Oh well, they are just a “statistic” as he supposed to have said.

    Like those who frequently shout that the Allies have killed a “million Iraqis” (nice round number), they like to fib and lie about just who is responsible.

    Live long and prosper.

    Try a free CMS(Content Management System):
    sites.google.com really easy to use to build a website with templates etc…
    wix.com very flashy, sleek websites using flash
    Joomla.com hard to use for beginners honestly
    wordpress.com Same as joomla, not easy to use
