Sometimes, the people who know what they want to do for a career don't always end up fulfilling them.
Don't compare your career choices with theirs and focus upon what interests you and, thus, the jobs that will allow you to develop those interests.
Interior design is a good job for those who are good at it. It does take some time to get your name out into the community but whilst you work on your preferred career you can always take on a second job to pay the bills until the first job (ID) can support you financially.
Good luck,
Pepper.
RT tava pensando em desistir da carreira de designer havia até me resignado com a vida simples fazendo carretos que eu ia levar no interior

http://www.asid.org is the american society of interior designers. Your question was good… also the number retiring verses the number of new members qualifying, over a ten year period… something like that… Or the number of SELF employed Designers verses Employeed by others… or ANY statistic they know, relative to the TOTAL number of their members…
if the national group is "too busy to help" you might try a state sized branch, like http://www.asidmi.org is Michigan…
You're asking the right questions, so I think you'll be successful!
FYI who said tht interior designer have to live in solitary confinement!? No body understands ur misery bcoz that’s self created
You know what you want, it is just hidden, you were born with a particular passion and it is a matter of dicovering it, you will not find it outside but inside of you. Yes people have goals. GOALS = Dreams + a date, so first you have to uncover your dreams. You feel useless because you are not in touch with your natural talents. You have unique talents that can be exploited but your first task is to re-connect with them.
